The Saddest Thing of All

The saddest thing of all,

Is that I actually knew it,

Before it even became the issue,

I knew it,

I worried when I heard of someone else,

That you were involved,

And baby I guess I knew it all,

It's sad to think I knew,

But baby I guess it's true,

I knew you were in trouble,

I sensed it in the atmosphere,

When you weren't near,

With no idea I was right,

I let it pass through my brain,

As a thought that wasn't true,

But baby I should know by now,

My thoughts are always true,

I should've told you sooner,

I should've held your hand tighter,

Maybe you would've been there,

To lift my head a little higher,

The saddest thing of all,

Is that when I really need you,

You weren't there to catch my fall.
