The Audience

Time passing me by.

Already losing it.

Blacken heart, bruised brain.

No way to get rid of this stabbing pain.

Every word shredded a piece of my skin.

Teeth clamping down my lip.

Tears racing down my blistering cheeks.

But this is not what the audience sees.

She is happy, healthy, free.

Pretty smile, beautiful face.

When she stops to think her demons come to play.

Troubled mind.

No more time.

You've got to suck it up they say. The audience doesn't like the truth. Just do it for them. Do it for the audience. Just like we practiced...

This is who I am.

I am happy.

This
          Is

                Who

I
       Am.
