"Troops!Attention!!!"

Tumigil ang mga trainee sa kanilang mga ginagawa at agad na luminya. Ipinagpatuloy ng commanding officer ang kaniyang pag-inspeksiyon sa mga bagong salta.

"Lt. Chua! Bilang!" the officer commanded me before turning his back on us.

"Mula sa kanan! Isa!" i shouted on my troop.

"Isa!"

"Dalawa!"

"Tatlo!"

They continued counting until it reaches the end.  I automatically faced the commander to report.

"Sir!27 complete! Sir!" I gave him a salute.

"Good. Make sure they're ready before the graduation." Wika nito bago kami muling talikuran.

I faced my troop and signaled them that they can continue resting for a while. I also went back to the tent dahil mainit.

I looked at my watch. Alas tres na pala, isang oras pa. This is my profession, i'm a soldier serving the country.  I am also a military doctor but I chose to serve here at the camp.

Bukod sa panggagamot ay isa rin ako sa mga nagtratrain ng mga newbies. My phone rang so I get it from my pocket.

"Nica?" casual kong tawag sa aking kaibigan.

"Stacey, you need to come here. Nasa headquarters kami." wika nito.

I ended the call immediately and went to my co-officer. Alam kong pagod na 'to kaso may emergency.

"Lt. Taruc, kailangan kong pumunta sa headquartes maiiwan ka dito. Train them well. Understood?" ma-awtoridad kong utos sa kaniya.

"Ma'am! Yes! Ma'am" sagot nito.

I gave him a salute before turning my back. I drive all the way back to our main headquarters here in La Union.

I got transfered from V. Luna Hospital to here. Well it's a good choice though, probinsya ito at mas tahimik.

Si Veronica ay nandito rin para sa isang seminar kaso sa V. Luna pa rin siya. May anak na eh.

2022 lang siya ikinasal kay Gen. del Pilar at swerte niya nagka-anak na sila. Ako heto single.

Hindi ko alam kung bakit nakaramdam ako ng kaba habang bumababa ako sa aking sasakyan. Is there something waiting for me. Nagulat ako nang makita ang itim na sasakyan ng pinakamataas na opisyal ng bansa. The president.

"Sir," i gave him a salute nang makasalubong ko siya sa hallway.

"At ease. Lt. Chua? How are you?" tanong nito.

"I'm good sir."

He just tapped my shoulder before heading out the building. Dumeretso na ako sa conference room at napataas ang aking kilay nang makita si Nica na nakaupo sa labas kasama si Gen. del Pilar.

"Sir," i saluted at my bestfriend's husband as well as to Nica.

"Pasok ka na," wika ni Nica.

Naguguluhan man ay pumasok pa rin akos a loob. I saw a familiar figure standing 4 meters away from me. Nakatalikod siya pero kilalang kilala ko ito.

The memories of the past slowly came back.
