chapter 14

TW: LANGUAGE (SWEARS)

Friday. It was Friday.

This was the last time I'd be seeing Darryl at school today. My heart felt uneasy from yesterday. Darryl was mad at me.

I got ready for school, wearing my favorite hoodie. I put on short khaki shorts like I did last Friday. I sighed and walked to school.

I met Vincent at the school entrance. We walked into the school together. We entered advisory to meet the other idots in the classroom.

They were laughing and chatting. Darryl, George, and Sam were on the other side of the classroom. I saw as Darryl watched me enter the room. Every time I thought of Darryl, my heart ached.

I felt bad for yesterday. I still loved him but I was scared. Vincent and I took a seat next to the 4 idots. They were going on about some trip Zelk was going on soon.

"Oh, hey Zak. Hey Vince." Geo greeted us.

"Hey," I said as I sat down.

"It's Friday," Finn said giving us Jazz hands plus a face of excitement.

"We should all hang out on the weekends," Vince suggested

"I think I'm busy during the weekends." I lied to them. Maybe next week I would hang out, but I wanted the weekends to myself.

Today Darryl was going out with Sam. I heard as they talked from the other side of the classroom. Talking about their date later that day.

They were going to a nice restaurant. Then, Sam planned to take Darryl stargazing.

I think Geo overheard their conversation. He punched me lightly on the shoulder and leaned towards my ear. "You hear that? Darryl's going out with your sister. You jealous?"

"As if!" I said crossing my arms.

"Does Zak have a crush?" Zelk joked.

"Yeah, Darryl." Vincent scoffed.

I saw Sam and Darryl turn their heads in our direction so I hid my face. "You're so stupid," I mumbled to Vincent, face red.

"What? Why are you so red? I was just joking." Vincent patted me on the back.

The teacher walked in and sat at his usual desk. He started writing on some papers. The bell rang and she grabbed his attendance sheet.

A couple of students swarmed into the classroom and took a seat. The teacher got up and shut the door. He spent the next minute or two calling out roll. Then he told us some unimportant announcements.

"See you guys next week." He ended the class. We all walked into the hallway.

The idots were making fun plans for Saturday. They were planning to sleep over at Geo's house. I sighed half regretting that I decided not to hang out with them.

I headed to second period with Zelk and Finn. We texted playing GamePigeon. I won a good couple of rounds and took notes in between the games.

In third period we made different crafts and drawings of each other. The teacher did find out and lecture us about not playing around during class.

The next class was on computer science. I walked into the classroom. I pushed open the door, laughing at a joke Geo had just made. I shared this class with Geo and Finn.

I saw Darryl sitting down reviewing notes for our game. I watched as he groaned and hid his face in his hands. I coved my mouth with my arm as I laughed. I took a seat next to him.
