The End

So. Wow. That's it, I guess.

I literally can't believe I made it to this point. For a good while now - probably since Chapter 28? - I've been debating just scrapping this entire draft and starting again. But I've pushed through, and during these last few chapters I feel like I've rekindled a little of my old love for this book.

And now I'm here. THE END.

Back when I started this book, right back at the start of 2020 (what a different time that was xD), I pictured this being the final time I would type the final words to Shadewylf, or The Cloak Of Shadow, or whatever form this book took. That is no longer the case, but it doesn't mean I'm not immensely happy to have finished this again. While this is not the form that I want Shadewylf to finally take, it is a form I am content to share with you, and I do hope that you have enjoyed.

This is the end of draft two, and I can't stop smiling about it.

Of course, you're probably less happy, given the ending I just delivered to you. So, uh, sorry about that, I suppose. Trust me, Lexi was my favourite character to write. I also miss her greatly :')

We'll just ignore the fact that Chapter 40 is actually the chapter I'm most proud of in this entire book because that would be mean, why would that be the case--

Anyway, before you start trying to stab me, let's get onto thank yous!

Thank Yous

I'll start off first by just telling you, incredible reader, person I wish to hug through the screen, that I am so grateful that you have made it here. Whether it's the day I publish this chapter, or months afterward, the fact that you stuck with this book long enough to make it all the way through to the very end just makes me so happy. I love you for it. Huge thank you <3

To all those people who have commented on Shadewylf - be it for club reasons or simply for your own enjoyment - thank you for the smile you put on my face. Comments are my favourite thing ever, and the fact that you took the time to type out your thoughts on a chapter or even just a simple reaction means so much to me. Even if you're not named here, just trust me when I say you're awesome :D

There are a couple, too, that I've noticed voting on every chapter as I post. You might think I don't notice, but I do, and I am immensely grateful. Even those I don't notice at all, just... thank you again for sticking with it :D

On that theme, thank you to moonn_dvst2066! I haven't seen you in a while, and I don't even know if you'll see this, but your thank you is well overdue. To find out that you had not only read all of this book's first draft, but everything else I had written for the trilogy at the time... it was an amazing feeling and I don't feel like I ever fully expressed how happy that made me. I didn't think anyone cared about that draft but me. Whether you're still around with Shadewylf or not, you deserve a huge thank you for simply just being a reader of the first ever book I finished.

Thank you to -Royal_Empress-TheConfusedTurtle, and dreams_of_silver (and others but if I carry on the list will end up massive) for being both awesome commenters and the most active people in my little kingdom. An extra thank you also for generally making me laugh and grin evilly and just being great to talk to xD *points at all of them* Need more to read? Go check out their books--

Thank you to CaptainSarcastic101. You've been with this draft of Shadewylf right since the start, and I want you to know that you have been super helpful to bounce ideas off and to get some proper good feedback. I know I've dropped off reading your book at the moment, but I promise to get back to it because you deserve it. *points at The Night Rider* Here's another to read--

*inhales* Right, and huge thank you to Cross-Warrior for... well, where do I start xD First off, I never would have met the people above or the majority of my readers without you and DreamlandCommunity. I will never have thanked you enough for that message on my very first day on Wattpad. I honestly don't know what I'd be doing now without Dreamland. I wonder whether I'd even be still writing, or if Shadewylf would have been quite the thing it is or is going to be. On top of that, you're also one of my best readers and commenters and active in my kingdom enough to give me advice. The fact that you do so much for an amazing community that has benefitted me amazingly is enough, but that you also find time to read my book... you're just the best xD *tackle hugs*

Also *points at The Dragon's Scale* I'm just giving you a whole bunch of books to read now xD But it's worth it--

Am I going to thank my mum? Guess I am xD I doubt she'll see this but she deserves a big thank you anyway. She's the one that saw all the unfinished book ideas that never made it past the first chapter, and also the one to pick up this book's first draft before I even knew Wattpad existed. In short, she was my first and biggest fan <3

Now, before I start getting too emotional, let's answer the big question...

What's Next?

As some of you will know, a third draft/Shadewylf rewrite is already outlined. A lot of names are being changed, worldbuilding is being jazzed up a little and sorted out - in particular the Pelt magic system, which will involve not every wolf of a Pelt having exactly the same powers - and, the main reason I'm actually doing the rewrite: a big change to the plot surrounding Toivo. If you want to know what that change is, I did put it in my kingdom and I'm happy to share :D

There are other, smaller things I want to tweak too, but those are the main things. But basically what this means is that I can't start the second book yet, because the Toivo stuff won't carry across. Which is why I left the last chapter rather open-ended. The current version of Toivo has nowhere to go. *waves goodbye to him sadly* :') I probably won't miss him too much, though, next draft Toivo be cooler--

Anyway, let's actually answer the question. What's next for Shadewylf is its rewrite. But what's next for me? That is a little more complicated.

I've made the decision not to post anything on Wattpad until the new year, perhaps even later than that. I have mock exams coming up at the end of November (this coming week now, wish me luck :DD), and then the big exams (GCSEs, for you fellow English peoples) in May/June... provided they don't get cancelled, but here's hoping. So yep, a busy year for me school-wise. However, I physically can't give up writing because I'm addicted, so I will still be writing, just smaller amounts. Which is why I'm giving myself the opportunity to build up backlog over the next couple months, so that I can more consistently post come next year.

I will, however, be posting some stuff on Tapas. Thanks to the smaller chapter segments, I can more consistently keep up updating there. If you want to check that out, the link to my Tapas is in my bio.

What's next for me in terms of these offline projects? Skayle Union, the dragon book, will be making a return as I hope to continue and finish that. The Shadewylf rewrite will be a work in progress in the background. I also want to rewrite Pynk to fit with new worldbuilding, perhaps under a different title, so look out for that. Plus there's Lyca, which is fully outlined and ready for me to begin writing. Plus other random projects floating around my head that are by no means priority and yet they're there--

So lots to do xD I guess it's just pot luck which my inspiration strikes hardest and therefore which will come first. But whatever it is, I hope to see you soon.

For now, I'll simply say goodbye.

P.S. Wondering what this 'kingdom' of mine is? Well, it's basically a section of a larger discord server called Writer's Kingdoms in which several Wattpad writers, including me, have mini kingdoms in which to talk about their books. I tend to share random facts, occasional sneak-peek lines from chapters I'm writing, book-related memes, and other fun nonsense. If you would like to join, the link is in my bio.
