soulmates and nightmares

Start from the beginning

"Sorry." He said. "I'm still a bit scared."

I smiled and pulled the blanket up while still lying down. I put my arm around his. Technically we were spooning. I tried my best to sleep but it was hard. Thinking about Darryl and his nightmare. Thinking about Darryl and Sam going out.

I knew I had to sleep soon because we had school the next day. I decided to just close my eyes and keep thinking until my brain tires out.

I woke up at 6:15 to my alarm ringing in my ears. I try to turn it off but I couldn't get up. I was still in Darryl's arms. I tried gently taking his arms off of me, but he woke up.

"Good morning," I said sleepily to him.

"Morning." He took the covers off of him and took clothes from the bag of clothes we had bought for him.

He exited the room to go to the bathroom. I went ahead and got changed into my bedroom. When I was done, I met him in the kitchen. He was looking around in the pantry. He reached for a chocolate bar.

"Nope," I said

He turned around. He gave me a guilty look. I walked next to him, looking in the pantry with him. I grabbed cereal and got poured some into a bowl. I got milk in the fridge and poured it with the cereal.

"Here." I gave my cereal to Darryl.

"Thanks." He started eating. I poured myself a bowl. Sam came downstairs. I saw her and Darryl wave at each other, which made me remember they were going to go out on Friday.

We finished our food and put our bowls in the sink to be washed. We left home and walked to school with Sam. We saw Vincent and Geo talking at the entrance of the school. We walked over to them.

We all headed inside together and went to advisory. Class didn't start, but we just wanted to sit and talk in class. I sat next to a window, Darryl next to me, Geo behind, and Vince next to Geo. Sam sat at the other side of the classroom but sat on Darryl's desk to talk to us.

Sam and Darryl talked to each other a lot. I wish Sam had never met Darryl. They're not even dating and she's so clingy to him. I just wanted to push her off of Darryl's desk.

Geo saw that I was upset and tapped me on the back. I turned to look at him. I raised an eyebrow. "You okay?"

I nodded. "Sam asked Darry on a date."

"Is that why you're upset? Are you jealous?"

"What?! No." It was though.

The teacher walked in and told the students class was starting Sam got off of Darryl's desk and went back to her seat.

Class went on. We took attendance and went on break after. Then was second period. I was informed that I had lunch detention for not doing homework. The teacher told me that she knew I didn't do homework for all of my classes, so I had lunch detention the entire week.

The classes were a nightmare. Computer science was the only class I had with Darryl. I spent the others missing him. I started to really hate my sister. I don't know why I get so possessive of Darryl. My heart fluttered when I thought of him. I felt anger when I thought of him with Sam.

Time passed as I daydreamed of Darryl. Soon, it was computer science. I met up with Darryl outside of the classroom. We walked into the computer lab together. We shared a seat like we did on Friday and started writing more ideas of our game down.

I couldn't focus. When I was near him, I couldn't stop thinking about last night. I stared at Darryl's face and all I could think of was him crying, telling me about his nightmare. I wanted to meet Darryl's parents. Maybe talk sense into them.

We wrote all of our notes. When we were finished it was time for lunch. Darryl went to lunch. I went with him to buy a tray of food, then I had to go to detention.

Darryl tried to bring me to the table we sat in on Friday, but I told him I had to go to detention. He decided to come with me even though he didn't have to. I didn't argue with him, as long as we spent more time together.

We sat in the detention classroom, sitting next to each other. We sat in silence since we weren't allowed to talk. He was all I could think of. I thought of his olive-green eyes, how warm his cuddles were, how soft his hair was.

That's when I realized. I was in love with Darryl.

I knew what he was like. He wasn't safe and he wasn't very good at protecting himself. I knew I had to protect him. I looked over at Darryl who was chewing the straw of his milk bottle. He was thinking of something too. He noticed I was looking at him and he looked over at me and smiled.

I smiled back. We heard an echoing bell ring. Lunch was over. We walked out of detention and went our separate ways to our classes.

Class flew by and soon school was over. I met up with Vincent and Darryl. We walked in the halls when a teacher approached us.

"Oh! Darryl, the principal wants you in her office."

He nodded. Vincent decided to go home, but I waited for Darryl. I didn't want Darryl to get lost on his way to my house. We walked over to the office reception.

We took a seat. Then a lady walked in. She looked angry and mean. She had olive green eyes and long golden-brown hair. She looked like an older, woman version of Darryl. An angrier version of him too. I noticed Darryl's eyes widen. He looked scared.

"Darryl!" The woman screamed.

It was Darryl's mom.

I wanted to end the chapter off where Zak realizes his love, but if I did the next chapter would be too short (like 500 words which 1/3 of this one) :(
