Update #4: Mason

Hey there, Snickerdoodle!

Everyone's thinking it, I'm just saying it...

We're all in love with Mason.

Let's face it, this means that the impossible is possible.

(If you are one of those weird noodles who has yet to read any chapters in Open Case File then you are probably staring at your screen with this face 🤨or this face 😳. And I don't blame you. Mason in A Secret Service is a, pardon my language, a stinky butt mcpoopy face!

For all of you who know Mason to be the wonderful, stubborn, annoying, hilarious person that we've found him to be then you're going to be excited about this news!

For the next change to A Secret Service, Mason will now be the character we know and love!

Yes, he's still going to be a butt. But he will be a butt that we kind of love.

(Yeah, I know that sounds weird but you know what I mean about the butt. Now I've said butt too much, dang it 🤦🏽‍♀️)

You know how in the one shots Mason is the one who dishes it back to Carter as much as she dishes it out?

Yeah, that will now be the Mason in this version of the book. The Mason that you love and kind hate! 🥰

Why?

Because as much as we need to hate Mason, which we still kind of will, we still can love Mason for simply being who he is. Which is someone who doesn't like his role in life but still knows he's in the spotlight all the time.

Now, that brings me to my next reveal...

Drum roll...

In this new version, Mason has no clue who Link is.

Yes, yes scream and shout all you want.

Good. Plot-wise, it never actually makes sense that Mason would have any clue who Link is.

Think about it: Link sees his father in isolated locations that Donovan doesn't even know about until an hour before. How in the world would Mason ever in a million years see them together? It didn't add up.

(So you know, great going Joy! Should have thought about that in the first place! 🙄)

But be still my little Snickerdoodles, it actually changes ever little because just going to the same school as Mason is going to be hard for our Linky Bear.

And don't worry, that wonderful exchange in the cafeteria still happens, but it's mainly because Carter and Mason are never-related-to-each-other-siblings and they love poke at each other.

(No, they are not related, don't let your mind go off. I'm just referencing about a million comments where readers joke about Mason and Carter being like siblings in the way they squabble.)

SO! I've talked a lot. Where are we: Mason is still a butt. But! He's a butt we'll kind like for being able to face off with Carter and Link will still struggle being in the same school as his half-brother.

So all in all, it's not a big change, but a change I think you'll actually like!
