"Dad I am literally looking at the car right now" I shout into the phone

"I still don't see you" he squints his eyes to scan the crowd of people outside the airport "Ooh there she is!" I hear my mother chime in the background

"Can you see me now?" I asked flailing my arms like one of those inflatable tube people

"Oooh we missed you so much" my mom and dad both pull me into a enclosing hug "I can't believe you're really here right now"

"I missed you too" I smile. I was so happy to see my parents, it was the first time I could feel them in 10 months. I missed them more than I realized, I almost cried seeing them in person again

"Come on let's get out this cold" my father packed my bags I'm the truck while my mom and I waited in the car

The ride home was quick. We spent the whole of it talking about how I've been living in South Korea for nearly a year. We arrived home to see my younger brothers in the dining room playing cards.

"Ami!" James yelled jumping up to hug me "I missed you" he cheesed rocking me side to side

"I missed you too James, man it feels good to hug y'all" he pulls away to let our younger brother embrace me

"Hi my sister" He smiles and pats my back

"Tony! My baby brother" I squeal picking him up off the floor

"Ami put me down now!" He hollers trying to push off me. I laughed swinging him around

My dad put my bags away in my old bedroom that looked exactly as I left it. I sat on my bed looking around at the four walls that held the memories of my childhood. The pictures of my friends from middle and high school, my old book collection full of angsty teenage drama, the jewelry box my grandma gave me before she passed, my old journals and music cds. So much of me is embedded into this small space.

"Ami?" A woman's voice calls out from the hallway

"Michelle? Oh my gosh heeeeey" I give her a tight squeeze. Michelle is my brother James's girlfriend. They've been together for three years now. She's the little sister I never had and I adore her, she's so good for my brother.

"I can't believe you're really back home, I missed you so much" she exclaimed holding my hands while looking me over "Korea has been good to you girl, you look great"

"Thanks Chelle you're looking good too" she hugs me again "Oh man it feels so good to be home, you have no idea"

She and I go back downstairs with the rest of the family. My mom was in the kitchen with Tony cooking dinner so I made my way to them

"Mama, it's smells heavenly in here" I say taking a big whiff of the roast and potatoes in the oven "please tell me you're making greens and cornbread"

"Tony does the greens now" she nodded toward him "they're gooooood too"

"Okay Tony, I see you taking after mommy in the kitchen I can't wait to taste them"

"So catch us up Ami, how's Korea treating you? Do you still like living there?" Tony asked mixing the cornbread batter

"Yes, I love it now more than before, I told you I got a new job right?" He nods "Okay, it's so cool. I've met a few Korean celebrities and idols"

"Wow that's great baby, did you meet those boys?" my mom asked knowing my love for BTS is partially what deepened my desire to visit South Korea.

"Yeah once, they're amazing and even cuter in person" I lied. There was no way in this lifetime I'd ever be able to explain my relationship with the boys to my parents.
