All the shouting outside the pod startled Avdol awake. He sighed, wondering what Jotaro had done to piss the Zonian off this time, and quickly dressed. He hurried outside the pod and stopped short when he saw Jotaro pull Noriaki into a hug. Just past them, he saw a second alien, bowing. At first glance, he guessed this to be the friend Noriaki had spoken of earlier in the week.

Avdol gave the love birds a moment before clearing his throat.

Jotaro looked over and blushed a bit as he pulled away from Noriaki, “Umm…good morning, Avdol. You’re up early.”

“Hard to sleep with all the screaming out here.”

Noriaki gave a sheepish smile, “My apologies, Avdol. I’m afraid that’s our fault.” They said, pointing to Jean, “This is the friend I mentioned, Jean.”

Avdol raised an eyebrow at the newcomer when they still didn’t rise, “Is he ok?”

Noriaki rolled their eyes, “Jean, stand up and speak to Avdol.”

“You’re not still angry, are you? You know I’d never disrespect you that way. I swear!”

Noriaki went to their friend and put a hand on their shoulder, “Yes. I know. I over reacted. I’m very sorry. We can talk more about it later but know that I am not angry with you. And please, never bow to me. You know I hate that.”

Jean stood, stretching a bit, then grinned at their friend and slapped their shoulder, “Well, introduce me!”

Again, Noriaki rolled their eyes, “Jean, this is Avdol. Try being polite this time.” they said, “Avdol, Jean will not learn your language as easily as I did, but perhaps you can test out the text translator we were working on?”

Avdol smiled, “I would love to.”

Noriaki nodded, “Jean, go with Avdol. He has a human tablet that we have been setting up with a translation program. Use it to talk to him and let me know if anything sounds strange. Avdol may also wish to practice their Zonian with you.”

“Excellent!” Jean cried as they hurried to the other alien. They looked closely back and forth between Jotaro and Avdol, noting the differences in their appearance. Jean reached up and took one of the long strands hanging from Avdol’s head and studied that closely as well before looking back to Noriaki, “What is this?”

“Jean! Stop that! It’s Avdol’s hair.”

“But it’s so…weird…”

“It’s just the way they style it. Now, please, behave?”

Jean waved them off and gave a bright smile to Avdol.

Avdol laughed, “Well, my friend, let’s get to work.” He said, gesturing to the pod and leading Jean inside.

“Your friend is uhh…interesting.” Jotaro said once the others were inside.

“Interesting, yes. I suppose you can call them that. I apologize for earlier. Both my actions and Jeans. They were only trying to protect me and I…well.” Noriaki’s blush returned and they shrugged.
