Chapter two

"How would I cheat?" She asked Donovan.

"I don't know! But you did!" He told her.

Sophie snorted and exited the gym. She ran to her locker and packed all her stuff in her backpack and left the school.
She went to her car and sat in the drivers seat.

She drove out of the parking lot and to a nearby Starbucks.

A bell rang as she entered the Starbucks. It was empty except for the workers, who seemed to be bored out of their minds.
Two guys were playing catch with a whipped cream bottle.
The blonde haired boy threw the bottle to the dark haired guy, but he was too busy staring at Sophie and got hit in the leg with the bottle.

"Owwww!" He complained, then rushed to the counter in front of Sophie.

"Hi I'm Greyson, welcome to Starbucks, how can I help you?"

"Can I have a grande chai cream frappe and a lemon loaf?" Sophie asked him.

"Of course. What's your name?"

"Sophie."

Greyson grabbed a grande cup and wrote her name on it.
The blonde guy handed her a lemons loaf.

Sophie took it and brought out her credit card to pay, but Greyson told her not to worry about it.

"It's on us," he winked.

"Thank...you." Sophie said.

"No probs."

The blonde guy made her Frappuccino and gave it to her. Sophie thanked them and started to leave but Greyson stopped her.

"Sophie, would you like to go out sometime?" He asked.

Sophie shook her head. "Sorry, but I don't want to date right now."

Greyson grabbed her empty hand before she could turn around.

"Please?" He asked. "It would be fun."

Sophie shook her head and tried to pull her hand away, he grasped it tightly.
Greyson started to pull her closer but she stomped his foot and kneed his stomach when he let go with a howl of pain.

Sophie ran out of the Starbucks and jumped into her car.
She could see why they didn't have any costumers.
She turned the car on and drove onto the street in the direction of her house.

She pulled up in front of Havenfield a few minutes later and walked into her home.

Grady was sitting at the kitchen table, reading the news paper, Edaline looking over his shoulder.

"Hey honey!" Edaline greeted.

"Hi mom. Hi dad."

"Hey kiddo," Grady said. "How was your day?"

"It was fine." Sophie decided not to tell them about Greyson, or Donovan either, because Grady tended to be a little overprotective when it came to boys.
He had a whole secret closet filled with weapons that Sophie didn't know he had till the boy delivering newspapers started flirting with her.

Grady had chased him out with a metal bat.
Pretty sure the poor kid was scarred for life.

Sophie ran upstairs and ate her lemon loaf in her room.
She had a quick shower and sat on her bed and continued The Battle of the Labyrinth.

She read until five pm when Grady called her down to dinner.

"Coming!" Sophie called back and hurried down the stairs and into the kitchen.

Edaline had made her famous chicken alfredo.

Sophie sat down beside Grady to eat it.
The delicious flavours filled her mouth.
"Love this!" Sophie said through a mouthful of pasta.

"Thanks sweetie." Edaline said.

They finished up their dinner and Sophie told her parents how she CRUSHED it in dodgeball today.

"That Donovan kid needed to be taught a lesson," Grady said.

"Yup," Sophie agreed and thanked Edaline for dinner.

She put her plate in the dishwasher and told her parents she was going for a walk.
Sophie put her shoes on and walked out the door.

She took the same route she did yesterday.
Sophie stopped for a few seconds when she reached Everglen, just wanting to admire it.

She breathed in the scent of the flowers and turned to start her walk again.
She heard a rustle in the bushes and whipped back around.
Seeing nothing she walked away from Everglen.

Sophie looked at the sunset, orange, blending into pink, blending into purple, the sun shooting beams of light between the houses.
She brought out her phone and took a picture.

She heard a bush rustled again, but Sophie ignored it.

It must be a squirrel or a bunny, Sophie thought.

She put her phone back in her pocket.

Suddenly arms wrapped around her waist from behind.

Sophie screamed.
