Nico At Hogwarts

the quest

Nico's pov

Impatiently I tapped my foot on the ground. Sitting in my father's waiting room. This was the first time he'd called me to see him in a few months. Honestly, it was slightly worrying- hopefully, he won't give me another quest

"you're next Mr Di Angelo" a skeleton servents called me

I stand up and walk into my father's throne room.  "my lord" I say bowing

He looks up and waves his hand at me. "rise" he answers waving his hand in an almost lazy gesture.  Clearly, an act, judging by how tense the rest of his body looked. Whatever this meeting was about, it was going to be a big deal 

" I have a task for you he told me"It shouldn't be  difficult, there is a young boy harry potter in the world of wizards, you know of wizards correct?" I nod there are plenty of wizards in the underworld

"Good" he says " now in the wizarding world there is a man who cheated death his name is tom riddle but he is more widely known as Voldemort"

"flight of death?" I ask" in french?"

"Indeed, the potter boy is prophesized to defeat Tom. your job is to protect him until this happens"

strange my father would normally either kill the man himself or just wait for the prophecy to happen "what is the prophecy?"

"Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies  And the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives..."

"but," I say, confused" the prophecy doesn't say Voldemort it says the dark lord"

"people call Voldemort the dark lord!" he snaps, momentarily losing his cool

ohhh now I get why he's so worried! the dark lord could also be a name for Hades, he's worried that the prophecy is about him so he's trying to make sure it happens to someone else, that's why he isn't just waiting for the prophecy to happen and it definitely explains why he isn't just telling me to kill the Voldemort guy cause then the prophecy will definitely be about him!

"Now listen," my father says pulling me out of my thoughts " You must kill Voldemort you must let Harry do it" Well that pretty much confirms my theory 

"how long will this quest take?" I ask. It honestly doesn't sound that bad- I don't mean to underestimate this Voldemort. But all I'm going to have to do is be a bodyguard. There's not as much stress or work as most quests.

"you must stay with harry until he is experienced enough to take care of himself, at least a year" Hades answers 

"a year!" I yell at him" What is this? what kind of quest takes a year?!!" 

"this one" he thunders "I should have sent you last year anyway! Voldemort almost killed Harry already! You are dismissed"

I glare at him for a few seconds and then sigh. "Fine," I say as I turn to leave

"Oh one more thing," he said I turn around, not hiding my anger" I am blessing you with two things ordinary magic to help you fit in and the ability to talk to snakes or parseltongue"

"why parseltongue? " I ask

he smiles "You'll see"
