Sofie P.O.V

In the past month that I've been home, Ace has been acting super weird. I have graduation in a couple of weeks, and I'm nearly done with physiotherapy.

Getting my cast removed was an odd experience. I felt like I couldn't remember how to walk. It sounds weird, but that's exactly how I felt. I was thinking about what might have Ace so on edge. He's been working extra hard on finding Carter, but I know this is about something else.

If I thought about this any longer, my head would explode, so with a sigh, I change my outfit.

"Stefano!" I call out.

"Yes, Sofie?" I smile and walk to the car.

"Could you please take me to Adornetto enterprises?" He nods and starts the engine. Adornetto enterprises, is Ace's legal business. Nearly every mafia has one to cover up the illegal stuff. His business is really successful, and makes billions each year. I love the building he works from the most. It's really tall and spacious.

"We've arrived Sofie." Fano says. I wait for the car behind us to check our surroundings before opening my door.

Ace had another car of bodyguards follow me where-ever I go.

"Hi there! How can I help you?" The first-floor says with an obviously fake smile. I fight the urge to roll my eyes. She begins twirling a strand of her hair when she sees Stefano with me. he seems uncomfortable, seeing as he's married and has a child on the way.

"We're here to see Alexander Adornetto." I say, not even looking at her. She scoffs, looking over me.

"Yeah right. This is an office building, not a strip club." I narrow my eyes, looking her up and down.

"Then why are you here?" I ask in confusion. Stefano tries to hold in a laugh but fails.

"Sofie!" Janette says, coming over and giving me a hug. Janette is in her early forties, and has been Ace's assistant and secretary since he took over the business.

"Hey Janette." I smile at her sweetly.

"I have some files to collect from people, so why don't you go right up?" I nod my head and walk towards the elevators. Hitting the top floor button, I think about what exactly I'm going to say to him.

Once the elevator reaches his floor, I step off and crack open the door to his office to make sure he doesn't have a meeting. Lucky for me, he's alone.

When Ace looks up, he seems surprised, but still gestures for me to sit down on his lap.

"Yes, I'll have the final copy of the contract sent over to you by tomorrow." The person on the phone says. I didn't even realise he was on a call. Ignoring the conversation, I snuggle closer to his chest and inhale his cologne. I smile when he places his head in the crook of my neck.

"That sounds great. I'll call you back tomorrow." Ace says, ending his call and pulling me closer to him. We sit in comfortable silence for a minute.

"As much as I love seeing you, sweets, is there a reason you came here?" I smile, realising that I'm keeping him from his work. The smile leaves my face when I remember why I came here.

"Ace..." I trail off with a sigh. Ace begins looking me over for any injures. "Ace I'm fine." I giggle. "It's just..."

"Kitten, what's wrong?" I let out another sigh.

"Ace are you okay?" He seems taken aback by my question.

"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"

"You tell me. Since the day I came home, you've been all weird and stuff." I explain, playing with his hair. A moment of realisation passes his face.

"Oh kitten." He says, kissing me softy on the lips then resting his forehead against mine. "I haven't even realised I was being distant. I've just been so caught up in work. I love you more than anything in this world and the thought of losing you still haunts me. Catching that bastard who hurt you is something I need to do."

I wrap my arms around his neck and hug him. I really don't know why I was so worried.

"We're going out tonight." He says after a bit. "Wherever you want." I smile and kiss his lips.

"I love you, dork." I say, smiling into his neck.

"I love you more, kitten." He says, kissing my temple.

Ace P.O.V

I continue working on some deals, while Sofie falls asleep on my lap with her head resting against my chest.

The real reason I've been distant is because I'm nervous. Antonio finally gave me permission to marry Sofie, even though he didn't want to lose the baby of the family.

I hadn't realised Sofie felt lonely. She didn't say so, but I knew what she meant. My poor baby.

Looking down, I see her smiling slightly in her sleep. I brush away a strand of hair from her face. Her perfect face. God, how did I get so lucky?

I'm going to propose in a few weeks. The day of her graduation to be exact. Now I just need to think of the perfect way to do it. I've heard the story about how Nick proposed to Emmalin from Sofie.

FLASHBACK:

"So, when he asked, the question, the ring was already on her finger." Sofie explains. I smile at her excitement, but the only thing running though my head, was how stupid Nick must have felt while doing that. "It was so romantic." She sighs dreamily.

"So that's your dream proposal?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. Sofie giggles and shakes her head.

"I kind of want mine to be somewhere alone, and I want it to be more traditional. More simple. I've had my fair share of the spotlight in my dancing career." I nod my head in understanding.

"I'll keep that in mind." I say, more to myself.

END OF FLASHBACK.

I definitely kept it in mind. To this day, I know exactly what she wants. I just need to change that dream into a reality.

Now all I need to do, is make my plan perfect.
