Something special

Chapter 5

Sofia P.O.V

"I'm ready!" I sing while skipping down the stairs. The dress I've made is what I call perfect. It isn't completely body-hugging, but still shows my figure off nicely. It's a maroon colour, and the sleeves fall off my shoulder. The hem of the dress falls a bit above my knee, and I've paired it with my black stilettos. Simple yet classy.

"One day, you're going to trip and fall wearing those." Luca says, kissing my temple.

"I'm a dancer Luca, I can handle heels." I grab my clutch, and do a little twirl. I'm surprised that nobody says anything about the length or sleeves of my dress. Not wanting to jinx it, I skip to the car and take a seat inside.

A couple of minutes later, I see the beautiful house I've been dreaming of for years. Only this time, I'm not watching it from outside, we're entering it.

I'm the first one out of my car, which makes the twins chuckle. "Okay Tesoro, let's go inside." Enzo says.

Ace is the one who answers the door, and my breath hitches when I see him. He's wearing a pair of black jeans and a blue shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. I admire the way his muscles fill out the sleeves of his shirt, but not so much that it looks uncomfortable.

Ace shakes hands with the guys, then grabs my hand, laying a gentle kiss on my knuckles. "Right this way." He says in his deep husky voice. He leads us to a large room where all the guests are. I immediately spot Emmy speaking with an older lady. Walking over to them, the older lady beams at me.

"My goodness, what a beautiful girl." She says, making me blush.

"I could say the same for you. Look at how dazzling you look in blue." One thing that my brothers say is my talent, is my ability to complement a person.

"Oh, how sweet you are. I'm Rosa, Alexander's aunt."

"I'm Sofie, Emmalin's sister." We begin speaking about everything in general. After a while, Emmy leans in to murmur in my ear.

"Hey, the family likes you." My cheeks go slightly pink, but I ignore her comment, instead focusing on what Rosa is saying. Emmy left to go speak with Nick and check on the kids, while I continued speaking with Rosa. She's actually a really interesting person. Just as she was explaining how she and her husband met, Ace decided to join us.

"Are you ladies-" I cut him off.

"Shh, I'm listening." I see his eyebrows rise with shock, but he chuckles and waits patiently. Good.

"Just as we got drenched in mud, he looks to me and says 'Rosa, will you go out with me?' I was shocked, but appreciated that he didn't chicken out." I sigh dreamily. That was adorable. I turn to Ace.

"Yes, you can speak now." I say with a smile, watching as he chuckles again.

"I just wanted to know if you two were enjoying yourselves. You know, being a good host and all." Rosa laughs.

"Ace, you must speak to Sofie here. She is just the sweetest person." Ace raises an eyebrow.

"Is she now?" He says looking at me while I try hiding my blush. "That dress really is spectacular. Where did you get it from?" He knows very well that I made it myself.

"Actually, this is one of my own." Rosa looks shocked.

"Wow! You are so talented. You must give me your number so you can help with my dress for the ball this year. Ace, I think I like her more than I like you." I let out a laugh.

"I think I like Rosa more than I like you, too." I add. We both look at Ace who has an offended look on his face.

"Oh, I'm leaving. I don't have the energy to deal with that cagna today." Rosa says, making my jaw drop. "Sofie dear, you will probably be around a lot more from now on, so I don't need to be formal with you." She gives me a kiss on the cheek, and walks away.

"I see you're getting along with my family." Ace comments, and I nod.

"Quick question." I say.

"Shoot."

"Who was she calling a cagna?" Ace sighs.

"The one walking towards us right now. Save me if you can" Just then a girl around my age joins us. I stop myself from looking away. Her dress. Oh her dress. She looked like a human disco ball, and it was hurting my eyes.

"Hey Ace." She purrs, placing a hand on his arm. "What are you doing?"

"Actually, Sofie and I were just discussing her dress." Sure, direct the conversation to me. I give him a look that says I know exactly what he's doing.

"Oh, hi! I'm Bianca." She says with an obviously fake smile that reflected her hair.

"Sofia." I reply. She tries flirting with Ace again, and he keeps bringing me into it.

"Sofie?" I turn around at the sound of my name.

"Daniel?" I rush over to him and give him a hug. "Dude, it's been like two years since I've seen you!" I say, smiling up at him. Yes, up. He's really tall.

"Well, welcome to my home!" I gape at him. He's Ace's brother? "Yes, I am, and yes, you said that out loud. He also has another brother... Ah, there he is." A boy who looks about a year younger than me smiles at me.

"You must be Sofie." He says, holding out a hand which I take.

"You must be Bradly." I reply, to which he nods. Ace joins us, and I smirk up at him. "Made an escape?" I ask, and watch as he smiles down at me... Lovingly?

"Yeah, I did, she's now after Enzo." I look behind him, and sure enough, she was all over my older brother, while he looked uncomfortable.

"So, Sof, cause any trouble in college yet?" Dan asks, and I look down. "What did you do?"

"You were a trouble maker in school?" Brad asks.

"Well, I couldn't get into any mischief at home, so I did what I could at school." I defend myself.

"Which was nothing bad, because my darling little sister is an angel. Isn't that right, Sofie?" Gio says, appearing next to me. Daniel snickers, because the kid was my partner in crime.

"Of course not." I say with my sweetest smile.

Dinner went really well. Whenever I looked at Ace, I found him already staring at me.

I was looking around for Dan and Brad, when I finally found them playing video games. "Aren't you guys supposed to be mingling with the guests?" I ask, my eyebrow raised. They don't bother answering my question, so I sit next to Brad. "Can I play?" I ask. He seems shocked by my request, but still hands me the controller.

Ten minutes later, and I've totally crushed them both. "Oh yeah! New highest score!" I say doing a victory twirl.

"How did you even..." Dan seems speechless, and I smile sweetly at the two dorks who have their mouths hanging open.

"I'm obviously not revealing my secret, but I will tell you, that there's a secret door at the back of the castle that leads to the dungeon. It can be used both ways." After a minute Daniel finally speaks.

"Bradly, I'm officially replacing you with Sofie."
