The first thing that Roan noticed was how safe he felt, the next was how warm he was. He felt light on the side of his face and his eyes fluttered open slowly. The storm had passed, and the bright, late morning sun was pouring through Y/N's window and casting light onto the two people laying on the bed.

Roan let his dark eyes wander across Y/N's sleeping face. It was so close to him that he felt short for breath. At some point in the night, he had slipped under the dark F/C covers with Y/N.

He continued to watch her from where he lay, snuggled up against her. Her E/C eyes were closed as she slept peacefully next to him. A few strands of her H/C hair had fallen in her face and Roan desperately wanted to push them out of the way so that he could see her face unobstructed. The thought of just how close they were made his face heat up and his heartbeat accelerate.

He felt a little dizzy and found it hard to focus. His heart was pounding in his ears and his stomach was doing flip-flops like he had eaten a live fish. Roan had no idea what it was that he was feeling, but he noticed that he felt it whenever he was around Y/N. He had never felt it as strongly as he did at that moment cuddled against Y/N though.

At first, he thought it was bad, but now he wasn't sure. He knew that he liked having his arms wrapped around Y/N, even if it made him feel strange. It was all very confusing. Roan decided that he would spend as much time as he could with Y/N to try and figure out exactly what it was that made his heartbeat flutter the way it did when he was with Y/N.

Her face twitched and Roan watched eagerly as Y/N began to wake up. He felt like something was trying to crawl out of his stomach as Y/N's E/C eyes snapped open and looked back at him.

"Good morning," She mumbled in a sleepy voice after the initial confusion of why Roan was there wore off. His chest ached, as he found Y/N's tired voice adorable, but he liked the feeling of it.

Putting his hand over his heart to see if he could prolong the feeling he sat up, emersed in trying to figure out what was wrong with him. His new human body felt just like it always did, and now that he was no longer looking at Y/N everything else began returning to normal too.

"We slept in late, it's nearly eleven," Y/N stated with a yawn. She stretched and tapped Roan on the shoulder. "But we were up late because of the storm. Did you sleep ok?"

Roan's heart sped up and he felt short of breath again. The sound of Y/N's voice had brought all of the new, confusing things that Roan was feeling back to the surface. All he could do was nod in reply as his mouth felt much to dry to talk.

"Glad you slept good," Y/N said, ruffling Roan's hair. Oblivious to his flaming cheeks, Y/N pushed off the covers and got out of bed. "How about some breakfast?" Not waiting for an answer, she walked out the door and headed downstairs.

"Y-Yeah," Roan stammered, still blushing from Y/N's head pat. He looked at the doorway that Y/N had waled through for several moments, trying to bring his racing heart under control before he followed the H/C girl downstairs.

. . .

The two teens sat side by side at the counter in the kitchen. Since neither of them had bothered to take off their clothes to sleep the previous night they both looked very rumpled and their clothing was wrinkly, not that they minded.

Y/N watched Roan as he drank the cereal from the side of his bowl instead of using the spoon that she had provided him. She couldn't help but smile. He was so sweet and innocent in everything that he did.

The memory of him coming into her room in the middle of the night caused a blush to spread across her face. She had only cuddled with Roan and nothing more, but it was still the most intimate she had ever been with someone. The fact that she had a small thing for Roan didn't help her embarrassment either.

"Hey, m-may I have another bowl of cereal?" The Selkie boy asked, startling Y/N out of her thoughts. She looked over at Roan to see that he had emptied his bowl entirely. Taking it from his hands, Y/N filled it with another helping of name-brand cereal and milk, then she passed it back to Roan.

The fingers brushed for a brief moment, which caused Roan's heart to beat wildly in his chest. He quickly looked away from Y/N to make his heartbeat go back to normal, but in doing this, he failed to notice that Y/N had a very similar pink tint on her cheeks to the one dusting his own.

Before Roan could begin eating his second bowl of cereal, the worst possible thing happened; the sound of the garage door opening and closing could be heard. Y/N got to her feet so fast that she knocked her chair over and it tumbled to the floor with a crash. She reached out a hand and pulled Roan to his feet as well.

"My parents are home. They'll kill me if they find you here," Y/N said as she frantically looked around the kitchen for a place large enough to hide the tall-ish boy. Roan was absolutely horrified at the thought of Y/N being murdered by her parents, but before he could express his concerns Y/N shoved him inside the pantry and slammed the door.

Without a moment to spare Y/N turned her stool back upright and sat down to eat her cereal. Less than a second later her parents came walking into the kitchen, dragging their suitcases behind them.

"Good morning pumpkin," her father said cheerfully. "Did you have a good weekend? Didn't get into any trouble, did you?"

"No, of course not dad," Y/N said, trying her best to sound casual. She forced herself to swallow a mouthful of cereal even though she felt sick from nerves. She didn't want to imagine what would happen if her parents discovered the boy currently hiding in the pantry. "I just hung out."

"Y/N's a good girl, she would never get into trouble," Y/N's mom said passive-aggressively, not looking at her husband. "Y/N, sweetie, why do you have two bowls of cereal out?"

The H/C girl nearly choked on her mouthful of cereal when she heard that. She coughed and spluttered. After a minute, she managed to say, "I-I'm just testing something."

Before her parents could ask anything else there was a sudden crash from the pantry. "What was that?!" Y/N's father asked with both suspicion and intrigue, turning his attention to the pantry door. Y/N wished that she could die on the spot, but she had to soldier on.

"It-it's probably just a box of cereal falling off the shelf. I must not have put it back all the way," Y/N stammered nervously, standing in front of the pantry door and waving her hands dismissively. "Don't you both have work soon? You should probably get going," Y/N added quickly, trying to keep her parents from asking any more questions about the thud in the closet. Luckily for Y/N, they took the bate.

"You're right Y/N," we only stopped by to drop off our luggage before going to work," Y/N's dad said, nodding to her before he hurried out of the kitchen. "Take care of yourself sweet pea," Y/N's mom said blowing her a kiss. "See you after work."

Only after Y/N heard the sound of the front door closing did she allow herself to relax and let out a sigh of relief. She crossed the kitchen and opened the pantry door, ready to give Roan a piece of her mind for nearly exposing them.

Roan was sitting on the floor, surrounded by several boxes of cereal and a partially collapsed shelf. He had a very worried expression on his chubby face, and he was stuffing his face with dry cereal. He froze mid-bite as the door opened.

After a moment he tried to speak through his mouth full of food, "I 'as 'o orrien tat ouu ere gonna ieà I ad o do uometin," (translation: "I was so worried that you were going to die! I had to do something.")

"Oh, Roan," Y/N said, shaking her head. She couldn't stay mad at him, especially when he was being his adorable self. "What in the world am I going to do with you?"
