However, Arthur relaxed slightly when he saw Dutch skidding to a stop at the end of the short alleyway. Luckily the lawmen hadn't seen him yet. The two outlaws made eye contact, Arthur knew that they did. They looked right at each other for a tense couple of seconds.

Dutch looked panicked as he glanced between the two lawmen. He looked back at Arthur one more time, just that same panic, before just turning and leaving as quietly as he arrived.

"Dutch!" Arthur shouted, both pleading for his help and cursing his cowardice. One of the lawmen glanced over his shoulder but turned his attention right back to Arthur when he saw nobody behind him.

"Look's like your friends ain't coming" one of the men taunted, only earning a glare from the outlaw.

Arthur watched the two men cautiously with one thought bouncing around his mind. Did...did Dutch just leave? Just like that.

~~~~~
"Seriously though, Arthur...are you alright?" you asked softly as you joined him on the couch, falling down right beside him.
"I guess" Arthur muttered with a small shrug.
"...I'm sorry Dutch fucked you over like that. I really am. I hate seeing you hurt" you sighed as you took his hand in yours, running your thumb over his knuckles.
You had always been protective over Arthur, well you had always been protective over each other, but you would always point out when Dutch had been treating him unfairly or overworking him. For those reasons, you had never been a huge fan of Dutch. And you both knew that side of you annoyed Dutch to no end but Arthur liked how protective you were of him, how you always thought of him and looked out for him like that. It made him feel warm.
"I'm just lucky you showed up when you did" Arthur laced his fingers through yours.
"You know that I'm always going to have your back" you reminded him as you lifted your hands, pressing a kiss to the back of his.
You glanced around, watching various gang member seek cover and even more lawmen showing up. You couldn't help but worry since you couldn't see Arthur, you both hated it when you got split up on a job. But you were sure he was fine, he could look after himself, you knew that perfectly well.
Still, you didn't plan on hanging around for him to show up or leaving without him. So you went to find him, who knows that he had gotten himself into.
Slipping away from the majority of the shooting, you started to figure out your way around some of the buildings. You were careful, making sure that nobody was following you or saw you, but you still almost crashed into a body as you rounded a corner. You almost raised your gun but stopped when you saw it was only Dutch.
"Y/n. We have to go, the law's shown up" Dutch informed you as he walked around you, the two of you pretty much just switching places.
"We've noticed, we're getting shot at. I'll meet you all by the horses" you told him, not wanting to waste time.
"We can't wait around for-" he was about to tell you that they couldn't wait for you to meet them but you already knew that.
"Then just go. I'll catch up" you assured him. Dutch nodded before heading towards the horses, going to round up the rest of the gang.
You turned on your heel and continued your search. Rounding another corner you skidded to the stop, staying as quiet as possible when you saw Arthur standing in front of a dead end with two lawmen aiming their guns at him. Thankfully, the both had their backs to you and hadn't noticed you.
