20200316 - Memory Scars

Waking at the crack of dawn
Things on your mind you'd wanted out
The leaves and their dewy tears
Bring back memories - joys and fears

Last night - hugged yourself
Cried yourself to sleep
For the thoughts to halt
For exhaustion to wash over

Chosing this over dripping blood
Chosing to fight each day
Fighting against others and self
Having to go on showing nothing
The world needn't see you cry
Tear-stained pillows and insufficient covers
Broken hearts and wounded souls

Not like there isn't any good
Sun rays prismed - plethora of colours
Out of teeny droplets
It's just that pain that drains out joy

Often wanting to forget
Craving a hug and a shoulder to cry on
Sleep is just hiding the pain from view
Still craving, but having to hide

No one's right
You for yourself
Stand strong and hold tight
For however long

The wind will blow
The sun will rise
The dew will drop or run dry
Blade and leaf will sway in the breeze
You may not need people to put your heart at ease.
