The dark, winding lanes ending in a clearing
Lost in a maze of alleys to finally
Come face to face with light and freedom
The crowded and noisy, buzzling street
Sounding as warm as music
For now, everything is familiar
The unfamiliar and desolate shadows
How mortifying to have it be the world around
I will run to you in the clearing, just as always
While we remained separated by vile constraints
Let's hug under the once mundane streetlights
You are here and all fear melted away
The walls you broke out of have me in awe
You were always my mentor
I learnt to smile again as you
Showed me the ropes hand in hand
7 years or 7 decades even, not once will I
Deny, even in the slightest that
Every hug felt cold until you showed me warmth
The dark lanes are behind us now
And almost like the pieces fell in place
I begin to feel safe
Running side by side to get you to the light was
Draining to say the least, but
The price of your life beats everything else
Stay, closer or further, but stay
Stay without hurting yourself
I'll watch over you nonetheless
Neither have plans of leaving
No one's giving up on 'forever'
The road is brighter out here
The snow is beginning to melt
You pushed through every hurdle all the way
It's time you let your hair loose
Let it catch the falling flower petals
Like hearts hold your smiles
Never once did you stop fighting
I never stopped believing
No matter what happens from here on
As we watch the sun rise in a few hours
The world has already become a warmer place
The warmth that the darkness was reining in
Now finally is for the world
The shivers and goosebumps will die down
The world will take off their warmers
When finally they do get the taste
Of what you've always given me
Nothing but love, gratitude and admiration
That has grown since that first day
Seven years ago that is still
A fresh and vivid memory
Spectacularly vibrant to the point that
A lot of others too, immune to the
Darkness' restrictions, managed
To dwell in the warmth
In the green light seeping between dark vines
