"You know, you're allowed to talk like a teenager, Y/n. You don't have to sound all formal." He then promptly left to go prepare their food. "And don't forget, it's not the weekend anymore. Go get ready for school, kid!"
-
Y/n came to school with a full belly and calm composure. Aizawa always seemed to make mornings easier for her. After her mother kicked her out, the nightmares started to get worse and more frequent. It was like her mother's parting gift or something. Well, more like a parting curse.
Aizawa truly was a saving grace to Y/n in her time of need, and she was always grateful that he found her in the school gardens, crying to those rocks under the maple tree. Okay actually that was embarrassing. But still.
"Hey, Y/n-chan! The weather's pretty nice today, huh?" Izuku said, running to catch up with Y/n.
"Ah hey, Izuku. Yeah, the skies are surprisingly clear today."
"So are we still eating lunch together today?"
"Yeah, sure."
It didn't take long to get to class; the duo practically memorized the fastest route to get there. As most students do, after a couple of weeks or so of going to high school. Upon entering they were greeted with the familiar chatter between classmates and occasional growl and shout from you-know-who. It was a miracle that Katsuki Bakugou hadn't broken anything yet.
BOOM!
Never mind. There goes the desk's polished top.
And along with the noise came a shocked and scared Denki Kaminari, running away from his desk and to the other side of the room. Y/n assumed he had said something he shouldn't have and angered the other blond. Ignoring all the hubbub, Y/n L/n made her way to her seat next to Todoroki and... that bird-headed kid.
"I have a name. It's Tokoyami."
'Oh my gosh, did I say that out loud?!'
"I- I'm so sorry! I- um..." Y/n's voice turned into an embarassed, stuttering mumble. She then realized that she broke off from her supposedly cold, unbothered front. Glancing up at Tokoyami proved that she was right: he was clearly taken aback by her shyness. Her face heated up and she struggled to change her appearance to be distant like on the first day.
Oh, she had messed up big time. Her plan to stay cold and distant so she wouldn't make friends that she'd burden and hurt was falling apart at the seams. Soon the whole class might find out that she wasn't as mean as she tried to present herself as. This was not good.
Making her face as straight as possible, Y/n said "this conversation never happened." and looked into her notebook, scribbling away to keep herself distracted.
Fumikage Tokoyami did not see that coming. Was he seeing things? No, Y/n L/n was definitely stuttering after he corrected her about his name. He thought she was a standoffish person. Maybe she was hiding her true nature all along. But he had to wonder: why?
Soon enough, the teacher entered the classroom and started speaking (grudgingly) about what they were to do today. One topic in particular sparked everyone's interest.
