—About 10 years later—
By age 14, you had become more aware as to how you quirk worked. It would only erase the things you looked at if you did so with both of your eyes. Therefore, you deemed it to be safe for everyone around you as long as you wore an eyepatch on your left eye to suppress your God-tier power.
You still couldn't go anywhere without it, unless you wanted to erase literally everything around you from existence. You also didn't know how to undo the effects of your quirk. To you, it seemed that it was impossible.
Today had also marked the 10th year since your father ceased to exist in this world.
After your father was erased— or rather 'deleted', as you called it— from existence during that incident when you where four, your mother became a shut-in. She almost never left the house, only making exceptions for groceries and necessary clothes sometimes. She never called her friends or extended family. She never even talked to you unless she had to.
She was thrown into the deep end of depression.
'All because of me,' you thought.
Your mother, at some point, must have snapped; she was heavily contemplating whether she should kick you out of the house or not. She couldn't bear to look at you: you were the person who murdered her husband. You took away what was the most important to her: a normal, happy family. You took away her innocent daughter, Y/n, and replaced her with a murderer with the quirk of a monster. Yes, you were four when it happened, but that doesn't excuse the fact that you literally erased your father from existence.
She decided that when you registered for high school, she would get rid of you for good.
Anyways, you've always admired heroes when you were younger, and it was finally time for you to register for high school. Conclusion: you were planning on registering for the hero course at Yuuei Academy, better known as UA, the #1 school in Japan for heroes in training.
But the hero course had to be earned, which meant that you had to take the entrance exam. What a bother.
—ENTRANCE EXAM—
(I skipped to the exam because I didn't know where I was going with that last part ;-;)
You shook your hands out to try and calm your nerves. It wasn't working.
The huge doors were starting to open. It was the start of the practical portion of the UA entrance exam, and you had no idea what you were going to do. Well, there wasn't any more time to think since soon all of the other "contestants" started to run inside the environment made for the test.
You started to run in too, hoping for the best.
-
You encountered your first foe. A robot that would give you one point if you destroyed it— otherwise known as a one pointer. At first you froze in place, not really having any experience with dealing with real life dangers or threats to your life. But soon after, you let out an annoyed huff and removed your eyepatch for a split second, causing the robot to vanish from sight immediately. It was way easier than you expected, and almost felt unfair to the others.
Well, if it would be this easy for you, might as well take advantage and get a good grade. This exam was for YOUR benefit, after all.
Robot after robot, you used your quirk to erase each with ease. When the announcer said that there was only ten minutes left in the exam, a loud rumbling started just north of the entrance, near one of the tallest buildings you'd seen thus far.
You ran towards the sound, anxious to gather as many points as possible. This could be your chance to get an even better score!
Once you reached the area where the sound was coming from, you looked up to see a giant machine looking above all the other students.
So this was the so called "obstacle" zero pointer the announcer was talking about in the beginning. No matter. Your quirk would get rid of it in an instant.
You started to lift your eyepatch, when a boy with pink hair jumped in front of you to block a piece of debris that was heading your way. You put your eyepatch back on in fear.
"Hey. Hey! You didn't have to do that!" You said, unknowingly holding onto the back of the boy's shirt tightly. "A- are you okay?! Why would you do that for me?!!"
The pink haired boy turned his head slightly behind him, where you were still frozen in place.
"It's what a hero would do, isn't it?" He said weakly.
Your eyes widened. He was right. This was the treason you wanted to go to UA. To be a hero. To save others without harboring selfish desires.
You let go of his shirt and dragged him to a nearby building, seeing as he seemed badly injured after blocking you from the danger with his whole body. "Stay here. You'll- you'll be okay. I promise."
The boy only smiled sweetly at you, now laying in between two buildings, bleeding out a bit.
You turned back towards the problem at hand: the robot. It was approaching a bunch of students quickly, who were all trying to escape. You would try and save them, but you know that erasing the robot would do everyone better in the long run.
So you took off your eyepatch and stared the monster right in the eyes.
You deleted it.
Instantly, you could feel the relief going through everyone around you. You didn't dare look, in fear of what you might do, but rather put back your eyepatch and ran to the nearest bench.
Remembering the boy from earlier, you halted your escape to the bench and ran back in his direction. He needed medical attention, and fast from the looks of it.
"Um... let's get you onto that bench. It'll be more bearable at least if you're in an easier position..." you started, trying your best to take him on your back. "Please stay awake... I don't... I don't want my hero to die the first day I meet him..." you whispered.
You thought you heard the pink haired student chuckle, but failed to confirm it because of the loud noise that sounded right after you stepped out of the alleyway.
"THE EXAM IS NOW OVER! GOOD JOB AND GO TO RECOVERY GIRL IF YOU'VE GOT ANY INJURIES!!!" Screamed the announcer over the speakers, once the blaring of the alarm-like sound finally stopped.
You finished laying down the boy on the bench and whipped your head around in search of this "recovery girl". Right then, a little old lady came into view with a cane that looked like a huge syringe. She seemed to be healing the injured with her quirk.
"H- hey! Over here! This student's injured, miss!!" You shouted to the old lady.
The granny looking hero came over quickly, and nodded in your direction. She quickly placed a kiss on the kid's forehead, much to his disgust.
The bright haired boy's injuries all healed in an instant, leaving you in awe. You pulled on his shirt lightly. "Are you okay?" you asked, in a quiet voice.
The boy smirked. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure."
"If you two lovebirds are done, can you head over to the exit? The exams are over, so you can head home now." Said the Recovery Girl.
Your face heated up and you looked to the boy next to you, who was now sitting up on the bench, covering his (also) red face with his hand.
"Please don't assume things, miss!!" you spluttered, coughing in embarassment. "Ahem, anyways, I'm glad you're fine. I'm going to head home now," you said to the boy.
"Wait, I didn't get your name!" He called out after you.
"I didn't give it to you," you stated coldly, personality flipping like a switch. "...but it's Y/n L/n."
"Lucas Reverie."
You turned away and ran to the exit. It was a long day: you were more than ready for it to end.
