Going home was an unexpected walk. Molly had to stay in school for an art class meeting or something, so that left me to walk home myself.

Except that wasn’t entirely true. I was encountered with Caleb.

“Hey”

That was only one word spoken to turn my head into a dark alley. Or the school’s back door.

“Caleb? That you?” I had to squint my eyes at how dark it was becoming at this time of day. It was probably going to rain or something.

“Going home?” Caleb asked as he stepped out of the shadows. As usual he had his black leather jacket on and black matching jeans and a white undershirt showing slightly from his collar.

“Yeah. Where else?” I teased.

“Mind if I come?” he asked.

“Um, sure. If you want to” I shrugged.

I starting heading home as Caleb matched my pace.

“So how are you?” he was trying to start a conversation.

“Uh, okay?” I said a little rigid.

In truth I felt still horrible for ditching Ethan in a relationship opportunity. I mean I didn’t want to seem like a criminal to his heart, but he needed to look at things my way. Who knew how long we could last before one of us messed it up for the both of us?

“Really? I heard you and Ethan got in a fight, again” he made it seem like it was a normal thing.

“Oh, yeah. That. Where did you hear it from?” I asked amazed.

“Oh you know school, girls… Logan” he let out a deep chuckle at the last part, and I joined him in the fun.

“Well, it’s true. And truthfully, I feel horrible. What if I made a bad decision about not wanting a relationship with Ethan? You think I should have said yes?” I felt desperate searching for this answer. It was a consistent question my mind and heart fought right to. Maybe I needed an outside view.

“I think you should do what your heart tells you, Daisy” Caleb responded.

I blinked twice as fast. Disbelief was set onto my mind.

“What?” he let out a uncomfortable chuckle.

“You know that’s pretty sweet for a bad boy to say” I smiled wide at him

He gave me a stern look, but I could still see his cheeks lightly rosy. “Aw, are you blushing?” I teased.

“No it’s called a sun burn!” he shot back walking faster.

“Right, but where’s the sun?!” I called running after him, in a laughing fit. In fact it started to drizzle lightly. Enough to enjoy a little rain hitting skin.

Caleb walked in the middle of the deserted road and face me. I was merely inches away from where he stood.

He grabbed my wrist, pulled me closer to his face asked, “Am I blushing now?”. His eyes glowed a mocking smile. His eyes were pretty, flecks of brown, green and blue.

I could hear my breathing, that how quiet it got. “Uhhhh, no?” I admit, it was awkward the tension around us.

Before I could blink, Caleb had his hand around my cheek and his lips locked around mine. My temperature rising in surprise and embarrassment.

What the hell did he think was he doing?

His lips were so… soft… warm (compared to cool rain hitting my cheeks) … and solicitous. Did he want to this for a long time?

I didn’t even know Caleb was done until he whispered in my ear, “Who’s blushing hard now?”

Caleb continued to walk while I stood in the middle of the road in disbelief. What the hell just happened?

“Flies are gonna end up in that pretty mouth of yours, sugarplum” Caleb called out.

I swallowed hard at his remark and started walking slowly.

“Yes, yes, the kiss was amazing” Caleb sugar coated himself.

I acted on that remark. “No, it was awful! What the hell do you call that?” I shot back.

Caleb looked my way in disbelief. And I gave a small satisfied smirk.

“It wasn’t my fault if the kiss was horrible! You probably suck at it! Haven’t ever been kissed before, huh?” he asked.

I narrowed my eyes at him. “What did you say!” I screeched at him, ready for a fight.

“I bet you can’t even tie a cherry knot!” Caleb laughed at me, walking briskly away.

“I never even tried, how would I know if I can! And it doesn’t even prove anything!” I yelled at him.

“Whatever. Better get home before you catch a cold” Caleb muttered as he waited for me by the corner.

“I hate you” I crossed my arms walking passed him.

“Right, just like you hate school?” he teased. “Nerd”.

“Hey! Shut up you dumb schoolboy!”
