Ethan got off me, and looked at the person who was at the door. And I sat up to look up at Keith.
My enemy.
“What are you doing here?” I asked in nothing but disgust. I hated him with all my guts.
“What no hello, cupcake?” he gave me a smirk.
“How about a kick in the a$$ goodbye?” I proposed.
He clicked his tongue in disappointment. “Is that anyway to treat guests?” he asked.
How did he get in here anyways? Surely, Aunt Jade who was in the living room next to the door, must have seen him.
“AUNT JADE!!” I yelled in annoyance. I really didn’t care whose eardrums I was breaking now.
I heard footsteps race up the stairs. Aunt Jade popping her head inside my room, giving us all a look.
“What’s the matter?” she asked frowning. “Is anyone hurt?”
“What is HE doing here?” I pointed at Keith. “He’s hurting my vision right now” I answered sarcastically.
“Oh, I didn’t tell you Daisy? Keith is going to stay with us for about 2 weeks” Aunt Jade mentioned.
My jaw must have hit the ground because it hurt by how wide it was opened. “2 weeks!” I yelled in frustration.
“Yes, dear. It seems Keith’s mom and dad had family matters to attend in California, which is far from here” Aunt Jade nodded.
“You’ve got to be joking me” I said slapping a hand on my face and falling back onto my bed.
“I’m sure you know Keith, right Daisy?” Aunt Jade asked.
“You mean Keith the jerk, dirt bag, who doesn’t care about feelings?” I answered as rude as possible.
There was silence longer than a second. “Well, I’ma be in the kitchen if any of you need me. Keith I think you should help me get boxes in the basement” Aunt Jade chirped changing the mood. And I could hear their footsteps leaving.
Keith. That good for nothing dump.
“So… who was that?” Ethan was obviously confused by my sudden outburst. He plopped himself on the corner of my bed, waiting for an answer.
“Keith?” I said with pure venom. “He’s suppose to be a family FRIEND” I put air quotes around ‘friend’.
“His parents know both my parents and aunt Jade, because we use to go to the same church and get involve in fundraises when I was younger. And from there play dates starting happening when I was like around 4 years old” I rolled my eyes.
“That still doesn’t answer my question of why you have so much anger when you see him” Ethan said.
I gave a big sigh, staring at the ceiling. “Obviously as we were growing up with each other, we didn’t spend every waking moment together. So when my mom visited Aunt Jade, me being present, she sometimes had Keith’s mom over, for hours. They are actually really good friends.”
“And one day it happened that my mom and Keith’s mom thought it was a great idea to persuade us to go places ourselves around 13 years old. I mean I thought it was nice hanging out with Keith because tell the truth, when he was younger and smaller he was a fun boy to talk to.”
“But things don’t last long. At some point Keith asked me to be his girlfriend. And at first I thought why not? He was cute, funny and smart. But too smart. Obviously me and Keith were not going to the same school. So I guess that gave him the benefit to have me as a girlfriend and another girlfriend at his high school”
“How did you figure that out?” Ethan asked.
I gave another sigh. “I passed by a diner and it so happened that I caught Keith’s eye, and I saw he was with a girl around our age. So I went inside the diner and asked who she was. He gave me this lame excuse that she was his cousin and that’s when she flipped and said that Keith was actually was her boyfriend”
“I was at the side thinking: this whole time Keith was playing with my feelings, meanwhile, he was playing around with someone else behind my back. I couldn’t help but create a scene, throwing things around the diner and at him and saying curse words at his done bimbo lover”
I laughed at how the old times bit me in the a$$ and how childish I acted.
Ethan gave me a ‘wow’ look. And I simply smiled.
“And now you're stuck with him for 2 weeks” Ethan whistled sympathetically.
“Well, who said I would be stuck with him? Maybe I can finally have fun around here” I shot back with a brow up in challenge.
“Hey! I’m not fun?” Ethan did a pouty face.
I laughed. “Maybe we can have even more fun now” I shot back.
