Do you ever get that feeling, when your all alone and start thinking of scenarios and what would happen if they were different?
I was having that moment when I was at lunch the next school day. Logan finally started sitting next to Carla, who had the brightest smile ever that day, and was currently fist pumping Ethan, who was sitting beside me.
Now how was this going to happen if I never was here? Was Carla and Logan ever going to become something if I never got between them to confess each other's feelings? Would I ever have the chance to see Ethan again and find the reason why he never called me, if I never came here? Would I be so close to Ethan still?
“You okay Daisy?” Ethan asked putting an arm over my shoulder.
“Huh? Yeah” I reassured. My throat felt dry.
They all seemed… happy. And here I was feeling gloomy. Because of the fact I was going back home, away from them. Probably for good. Forever. I didn’t have the guts to tell them. Not even Carla, yet.
And 5 days had already passed.
Why did I have to get so comfortable?!
“Daisy you don’t look so good. Are you gonna cry?” Carla looked concerned.
“What? NO!” I said all too rapidly. I got a weird look from all of them.
“Are you on your period?” Ethan asked.
“WHAT! No!” I shouted at him with a hot face. “I’m fine!” I defended.
“You don’t look fine Daisy. You seem a little off, lately. Is everything okay at home?” Logan asked with concerned eyes.
Should I tell them? Should I make my depart even more heart breaking? No. They didn’t need that.
“I’m good, really” I reassured.
Out of no where Ethan embraced me. Really close and tight, his face in the crook of my neck.
“Did you just get your man period, Ethan?” I teased.
“Maybe” Ethan let out a small laugh.
“Aw, you guys are so cute. Did you guys make up then?” Carla asked.
I gave her a look that labeled her ‘big mouth’. “Yes, we made up” I responded matter of factly.
“So you guys a thing?” Logan jumped in with a wide grin.
“No-”
“Yes-”
We both looked at each other in horror.
“No?” Ethan was the first to break tension.
“No” I repeated.
“Why not?” Ethan’s voice got thick and colder.
“I think it’s best I give relationships a break. Look what happened with Keith. He was a douche” I responded, backing my side of the story.
“I’m not Keith. And I certainly would NEVER EVER hurt you” Ethan arose from his seat in the middle of the cafeteria. “I don’t understand why you can’t give us a chance!” and with that fled the room.
I was left with eyes all on me and a guilty feeling.
Ethan was going to hate me. I hated myself, that’s for sure.
