Ch. 15

Vee's P.O.V

As soon as we got to the cottage. Cat took Raph to the bedroom that was there so he could rest. Going to keep watch probably, while April and Casey began their research. I on the other hand was looking for Leo hoping to maybe spend time and for him to get rest as well. However when I found him out in the woods out back. My breath caught as I looked at him. He was entirely surrounded by fluffy woodland creatures. Mists from a waterfall drifted around him, like a fairy. I think he must have sensed me because her perked a bit and looked to his side and smile at the sight of me.

"Oh, Vee!" He said smiling, his smile was even more radiant than usual - he seemed entirely at home in nature. Colourful songbirds twittered around his head and landed all along his outstretched arms. Squirrels perched on his shoulders, and a bright orange fox lay docilely in his lap. It seemed like his entire body was engulfed in fluff. It was cute actually.

"Ah, I feel like I'm being healed..." Leo suddenly said with a sigh before he turned to me again, "Come on, Vee...you should try petting them too." He suggested to me. I couldn't help but laugh as I ran my hand over the soft animals' soft, fluffy fur.

"They're all so adorable! But, you know..." I said not sure what came over me as I moved my hand from the squirrel on his shoulder, to Leonardo's cheek rubbing it with my finger. "I think you're the cutest of them all." I told him smiling as he looked up rather surprise.

"Vee! I...I...!" He tried to say.

I even giggled harder than that - I loved seeing Leo flustered. No, that wasn't quite right. I just...loved Leo. Period. Never having expect to have this feeling again or rather new feeling. My giggles subsided into a warm smile, as that realization snuck up on me. For some reason, even though I had no idea what would happen tomorrow...I felt safe.

"Vee...I think you're the cutest too." Leo told me which got me a little flustered as I played a bit with my hair before I looked up again.

"I know." I told him, with a huge grin, I flung my arms around him, squishing him into my chest. The birds perching on him took the air, forming a halo of wings and magic around us. And for that one single perfect moment - I felt content. I took in the moment somehow this felt so familiar to me as if I had this before. It was so nice and loving...

"I could stay like this forever..." I whispered enough to let Leo know I guess. I really loved this moment, it made me almost forgot to how I had dreamed of something like this. How I always wanted a partner to have that would show me so much care and love. Seeing me nothing more then what I am. Not seeing me for the halfling I was. There was a short silence. And then-

"Do you...want to?" Leo said with hesitation in his voice it was so adorable, I couldn't help myself. Pulling back, I placed a kiss against his forehead. Leo let out a little yelp of surprise, which just made me laugh harder.

"You just make me happy in a way that no one else does, Leonardo." I said using his full name being honest as I had never been this happy to be with a guy actually in so long, "Does that answer your question?" I asked knowing that I had spoke truth as we stared Leo a bit surprised as well at this before his lips formed into a gentle smile as his flushed cheeks went back to normal. Truth be told and I have said it, I hadn't been this happy when I had dated Jakana back in the day. He had been nice but he was just a huge jerk which had no respect for others and just wanted to show off. However Leo was very much different, he was so caring and sweet. Always made sure I was happy along with Cat and wanted to learn so much from our world. He cares so much of how I was feeling and would protect no matter what.

"Vee..." Leo said before he leaned forward, pressing his lips chastely against my cheek. His breath caught, and I felt a sudden wetness against my face. Tears. He pulled back to look at me.

"I feel the same way." He said as he held me against him and I couldn't help but smile at this. Somehow, all the animals left. It was just me and Leo in this moment, sitting in serenity. However this was kind of romantic even if what was going to happen. But that didn't matter I just want to enjoy this moment more with Leo like I have never before. I never had something like this, not even when I dated. This quiet and peaceful moments with the person you wanted to spend time with and get to know. Maybe when this was all over...I could have more with Leo...
