Ch. 8

Vee's P.O.V

We got to my room as Leo still held my hand but then as we entered I started to wonder how we were going to get there. It's not like Leo was going to magically poof up a magic carpet and whisk us away like Aladdin did with Jasmine. Cat would probably think that, figuring that Raph would be taking her somewhere what he liked. But nevertheless I turned to the blue turtle Djinni as I waited for something perhaps.

"So, um....how are we getting there?" I couldn't help but ask Leo this question since he was the only one who would know how. He stared at me with those kind chocolate brown eyes that somehow held laughter in them. Something I haven't really seen since my last relationship I ever had which I don't want to think about since this was something Leo wanted to do. Suddenly Leo smiled again as he understood what I was asking.

"Oh, that's right! You never traveled by Djinni before! Don't worry, I hear it's quite fun from a mortal standpoint. It might be a little scary at first, but I promise it's worthwhile." He told her as he held out his forest green hand. I could only nodded at him and set my hand in his outstretched one. Thankfully, this time there was no lightning, no strange release of power. Just a pleasant sort of giddiness that bubbled through me. The inherent mystery and otherworldliness of what was about to happen was tantalizing.

"Please make sure you hold on tightly." Was Leo's only warning to me, which I complied, wrapping my arms around his loose tunic and pulling myself closer. I had to admit I blushed at the feeling muscular body press my own soft and curvy one. This reminded me a little of how Jakana held me when we date but I rather forget that jerk which I have. However I didn't have time to feel self conscious or worried about what the Djinni in blue thought. Because he snapped his fingers once more, and then suddenly the world wasn't there anymore.

We were hurling through air, but at the same time not moving at all. Color and energy swirled around us, a myriad of time and places. I looked around in awe, taking in flashes of stars, splatters of landscapes. When we finally stopped, a gasped forced its way past my lips. I felt like I had traveled through space itself. But instead of an alien planet. I was in a massive, sprawling library. It looked like it hadn't been touched in millennia.

"Where are we?" I asked as I removed my arms from around him before he moved a little forward smiling gently at the sight before he turned to me.

"This was once the greatest library in the world. The Alexandria library. Do you know much about it?" He said before he question and luckily for me, Cat and I were able to learn a bit because of Angela who had been our tour guide for a few minutes. Plus the question I had asked about the library when we wanted to know more.

"This was destroyed long ago, right?" I asked him and Leo couldn't help but smile at this when I gave the right answer.

"Yes, that's right! By the Romans in a siege." He said as he folded his hands behind his shell. But then I got curious as I took a glance before I looked at Leo.

"But if it was burned in a siege, how is it here?" I asked as I remembered Angela telling me and Cat this. It made no sense at all. However, Leo gave me the most mischievous smile I had ever seen him sport.

"So you think I would ever let such a treasure burn up because of war? With the help of a few friends, we sealed it up, and buried it far below earth. It was sad to take the knowledge away from the people. But we made it our lives' duty to study every tomb here, and spread the knowledge. We had pupils from nation, every color, every gender. It's not a perfect solution, but I come here to remind myself that hope always lives." Leo told me as he took a deep breath, taking in the air of the quiet and dimly lit crypt.

It filled me with a sense of contentment to see the sparkle in his eye as he looked about. For the first time since I met him, along with Cat, he looked confident and at home. He suddenly got a little excited and smiled.
