Arthur Morgan: Trans Part 2

Start from the beginning

"So what's the problem?" Arthur asked. He hoped that you would open up to him some more but you seemed hesitant. "You know I ain't gonna judge you and I might not understand but I can try. I want to understand, I want to help" he confessed and made you smile a little bit more. He really was sweet.

"It's...it's not flat enough" you mumbled, answering hesitantly. This wasn't something you were used to discussing or explaining, it was something you kept to yourself and suffered with alone.

"What isn't flat enough?" Arthur's face scrunched up in confusion, really no having a clue what you were talking about.

"...my chest, it's not flat enough" you clarified with a defeated sigh.

"It looks pretty flat to me" Arthur responded without thinking.

"Well 'pretty flat' just isn't good enough" you snapped a little, you didn't mean too, you just hated trying to explain it. "I hate it" you went back to mumbling.

"Y/n..." Arthur sighed, realising he had definitely expressed that wrong.

"It's not just that either...my voice is too soft, my face is too feminine, my hips are too wide, everything is just...wrong" you went on to explain. It was difficult to talk about, a part of you still thought that Arthur might just turn and laugh at you but the more sensible part of you knew that he would never do that. Yet...it also felt nice to have somebody to talk too.

"That stuff really bothers you?" Arthur asked, just curious.

"All the time. Some days more than others" you told him.

"Like today?" he asked and you nodded. "I don't know if this will help but nobody here has ever seen you as anything other than...a man, because you are. Nobody even suspected anything else" Arthur assured you, feeling useless. He wanted to comfort you, to make things better, but he couldn't. "And you might think that about yourself but nobody else does. I definitely don't" he told you, hoping it would help at least a little. "...that doesn't help though, does it?" he asked with a small frown after a moment of silence.

"I appreciate it, really I do, thank you but...no, it doesn't really help" you told him honestly, still offering him a small smile.

"I'm sorry" Arthur apologised, really wishing he could help.

"Not your fault" you shook your head, not wanting him to feel bad.

"So, uh, it doesn't really matter how we see you?" Arthur asked, just wanting to understand.

"I mean, yeah it does. But I could probably look like you and still feel like this from time to time" you confessed with a sigh as you sat down on the edge of your cot.

"You don't want to look like me" Arthur chuckled, shaking his head, as he sat down beside you.

"Oh come on, Arthur! I mean...you're like the pinnacle of masculinity" you insisted, making Arthur blush lightly as he shyly scratched the back of his neck. But you were telling the truth! Sometimes you weren't sure whether you wanted to be with him or just be him.

"I...if you say so but really...I think you're just fine the way you are" Arthur told you, making you smile again.

"Thank you, Arthur. This is just...one of those things were no matter what you say, it's not really going to help. But I really, really do appreciate it" you smiled at him, hoping he knew how grateful you were for him, as you placed your hand on his knee.

"It's no problem, whatever I can do" Arthur returned your smile, placing his hand on top of yours. "I don't know if you've had many people on your side in the past but I am. We all are. You ever need to talk or just need a shoulder to cry on, you know where to find me" he offered.

"Thank you, Arthur...again" you gave his hand a small squeeze.

"I, uh...I got a job later this afternoon. You wanna come with me, if you're feelin' up to it of course?" Arthur asked. He would like your company on the job and knew that jobs often took his mind off of his worries, but he wouldn't push you into going with him if you weren't feeling up to it.

"...yeah, yeah I'll come with you" you nodded. You would rather be running a job with Arthur than staring at yourself in the mirror, Arthur usually proved to be a good distraction to you.

"Good" Arthur smiled as he lifted your hand from his knee, placing it in your lap. "I'll see you in a bit then" he patted your hand before standing up.

"See you in a bit, Arthur" you smiled up at him. He just nodded politely at you before leaving your tent.

This world never failed to surprise you. Who would have guessed that you would find such accepting people in a gang of outlaws? Even if it was only Arthur and Charles who knew, that was more people than you had in the past. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have people on your side, somebody to be able to talk to. And you sure were glad it was those two.
