"Where exaclty are we going?" I question when we enter the road of the estate houses at waterfall.
"Friend's place."
What happened to actually going out? To have some halirious awesomeness.
"Friends? We the only friends you have. Is it Lindo?"
"No Busisiwe, it's not. It's a friend from work. She's doing a house warming, so I decided to come with you," she huffs.
Am I annoying her?
"And the girls?"
"Oh they'll be there," she smirks.
Why the hell is she acting so weird? Her behaviour is automatically making me anxious, so I keep quiet and continue enjoying my ice-cream. That might actually place me at ease
Oh let me call gogo and ask if they're still alright.
Even though I'm well aware that Ma Nonkosi is there at home since it's late, I still wanna check. But I'm disappointed when both their phones go straight to voice-mail.
"Could you stop stressing. We're here."
She drives through the drive way and parks the car opposite the huge wooden double door.
How is this a house warming party when there are no cars, people or even music to welcome.
"Are you trying to kill me on my birthday?" I blurt unnecessarily.
"I'm hurt," she frowns.
"But why is it so quiet inside and outside, Khanyi?"
"The house is sound proof. Now come on," she rolls her eyes and steps outside while fixing her make-up.
"Busisiwe, come," she demands annoyance much vivid in her voice.
I sigh and say a short prayer but I slightly release a soft Laugh at myself for even thinking Khanyi would murder me.
Is that just halirious.
"Lets go baby," she interwines my fingers with hers and I'm feeling a bit clam.
This house is amazing. A concret house at it.
It's amazing.
We head inside the darkhouse and trust me when I say, I was never ready for this.
"SURPRISE," they all chant at once when the bright light beams and blurs me.
I horrifically scan the large lounge and notice every single person who revolves around in my small cycle of life is present, with ofcourse other unknown guests.
Of course Nathi is not present.
A tear escapes willingly and I glance at Khanyi.
"You bitch. I should have known."
"Language young lady," gogo warns and kisses my cheek.
That earns us a laugh from the crowd.
I smile when I catch a glimpse of my baby boy on Nathi's mom's lap.
"Mama," I make my way to her.
"Bubu. Happy Bitrthday my baby," Nathi's mom smiles and kisses my cheek.
If my cheeks don't turn pink today, I don't know what else will.
I exchange warm cheerful greetings to Nathi's grandmother as well.
Truthfully, I've never expected any of this from any of them, even though I had my suspicions, they actually played their cards right.
I'm overwhlemed by all of this, words won't even stand a chance to elaborate comprehensive words.
Finally after I've thanked everyone for their attendance, I can finally go drink with my girls.
"You bitches are so sneaky," I utter when I dug myself in the middle of their arranged circle outside that wonderful garden.
"You thought we forgot?" Enhle arches her brows.
"Ah duh," I roll my eyes teasingly.
"I thought you knew us. I'm hurt," now it's Bongi's turn to roll her eyes.
"What was I suppose to think, when you guys ignored me the entire day?"
They laugh and it warms my heart to see them jolly.
"I thought you were smart," Lindo playfully insults and I giggle.
Oh my. When last did I see her.
"I thought so too. I mean, I would have figured out a while ago," Sbongi shrugs.
Seriously?
I glare at her.
"It's funny how she thought I was going to kill her," Khanyi utters, heading straight to her bestfriend and sitting next to her on the available space she gets.
"Do you blame me? You were acting so strange."
"You are mad," Lindo laughs and she gulps down her remaining spirit.
"We might as well kill her now," Khanyi suggests.
"Fuck off," I laugh.
"It takes too," Bongi snorts and I gasp.
The alcohol is totally taking over.
"Either way, who planned this whole entire thing?" I question, gulping down the hot burning shot of vodka down my dry throat.
This taste will never get old.
They all look at Khanyi and she mischievously grins. "Element of surprise," she shrugs.
What does she mean by that? Haven't I had enough surprises for the day?
"I bought you a lingere," Lindo grins.
Omg thats so literally like her.
"But why, when you know I'm single?" I whine.
"You might find a man tonight," Sbongi grins.
Can I just disappear.
"A good hot looking man," Enhle adds.
I can't believe these girls.
"And what makes you think I'd wear it for that man?"
"I mean why not?" Bongi mumbles, gulping down I don't know what number of shot.
I frown.
"Think about it," Khanyi grins.
Her too? This is absurd.
I'm Glad I'm saved by Lethu who by the way is with Sbongiseni at the far end of my direction. I stagger to their direction.
"Mommy," she hugs me tightly.
"Hi baby. I miss you," I kiss her forehead.
"I came to aleart you guys that dinner is ready," Sbongiseni utters, glancing at me with a smile.
Oh, the monster smiles?
"Thank you."
He nods and walks away.
"So, who brought you here? I didn't see you earliar," I question at a very jolly Lethu.
"Dad brought me," she smiles.
I freeze.
Nathi?
Never have I thought I'd hear his name today, out of all the days for that matter.
"Is...is he st...ill here?" My throat automatically goes dry and my heart races with an unfamiliar rhythm.
I think I know the response to my question, but I still wish it's the opposite of the reality that's about to unfold itself.
"Yes. He's outside. Waiting for you."
