Chapter Twenty Four-amnesia

Start from the beginning

"He's awake, finally," Ms Jonson utters with happiness and relief in her voice.

Nathi utters nothing back, but his dead disapproving glare burns on me.

"I'll give you space," I utter dryly and head outside.

Its absolutely clear I'm not needed.

He doesn't remember me. Meaning he won't know we have a child now. His precious son who still has to be given a name by him.

Oh my goodness.

"His awake." I send the plain message to the family group chat.

I slightly seat on the chair outside the room and I allow my body to weaken and fall hopelessly back.

He doesn't remember me.

I kept replaying that in my mind.
I can't even cry. It can't be.
He forgot about me? About us?

It's actually hilarious how the world works, right?

"Bubu?"

I must have dozen off.

"Ma," I shakily mutter back and quickly stand up and hug her.

Soon the hall way is filled with all Nathi's brothers, the grandparents and parents.

"Where is Khanyi?" I question as I break the hug.

"She's with the baby, Are you okay? You don't look happy," she worriedly inspects me.

"He has amnesia, ma. He doesn't know who I am," I utter even though the doctor hasn't confirmed, it's quite obvious to me.

"That can't be," Nathi's gogo utters in disbelief.

"Busi?" Siya whispers silently.
"It's going to be okay," He reassures.

I wish his words were true but their not. How will everything be alright when his brother doesn't have any memory of me and of us?

I nod anyway and my glance falls to the two older brothers.

Sbongiseni appears to be angry and he keeps cursing under his breath while Bongani is just trying his level best to keep his brother calm.

They both know something I don't.

I'll have to intorrogate one of them. But who because Sbongiseni is always grumpy.

Bongani is the soft one. Sometimes.

"Baba, come, lets go inside and see our grandson. Busi, come too," Gogo instructs.

I nod and follow both of them, walking side by side with Nathi's mother next to me.

"Oh, I was just heading out to run some tests, I'll be right with you guys," Ms Jonson utters and heads out.

"Nathi," his mom whispers as if she doesn't trust her own voice.

"Mama?" he smiles.

Oh God,he looks like an angel. With the injury scars that have slightly faded away, and his tired eyes and husky rough voice.

He healed quicker than we expected but I'm glad he did.

I hide behind Mhkulu, not willing to see Nathi's hard glare on me. Staring at him longer will only break me into tiny million pieces.

"We were worried about you," Nathi's mom embraces him into a tight warm hug.

"And Busisiwe too," gogo adds with a smile.

"Busisiwe?" he questions with a frown on his face.

He wasn't faking it. He really doesn't have any memory of me.
