Chapter Twenty Two-truth revealed

Start from the beginning

As we motion down the stairs, I notice the entire family is present, including my Mum's twin sister, and her mom and kids I'm guessing.

I try to gulp down the huge lump that's slowly forming in my throat but I fail the attempt.I'm not ready for this, for this attack I've never enabled myself to prepare for.

Nathi rushes to my side to help me down the stairs since my belly is to huge and I can't see my feet.I kindly accept his gesture and hold on to his shoulders tightly to keep balance.

"I'm sorry," he whispers.

Yeah, his apologising for what's about to happen.

Once we've reached the final step, I let go of him, hold Lethu's hand and I let her lead me to the direction of kicthen.

The food smells divine.

I utter my greetings as we both make our way to the kicthen and I don't miss the pleading eyes of Nathi's grandmother.

I'm not ready for this. Not one bit.

"Hey," I utter to Khanyi who is glued to her mom's side.

They both look shook by my calmness but smile almost immediately.

"I'm really sorry for disrespecting you mama," I begin with a shaky voice, "I wasn't in my right minds to tell you I never want to see you guys. I was wrong, now I'm asking for forgiveness," I choke.

I've been nothing but disrespectful towards the only people who welcomed me with warm opened arms to their family. They didn't deserve my outburst.

"It's okay, Bubu. I understand my child," she hugs me tightly and Khanyi joins in followed by Lethu.

Whuuuu, atleast the air is less thick now.

"I'm hungry," I sulk once we've broken our warmly embrace.

"Thought as much. Go make yourself comfortable on the couch, I'll bring food for you," Nathi's mom utters with a smile on her face.

I glance at the lounge which has almost the entire family in it. I catch Nathi staring at me as I scan the entire lounge. His eyes are apologetic and begging at the same time and again, I ignore him, feeling completely pathetically pained.

He is not at fault, Busi.

"I'm not ready for this mama," I whisper as I turn to glance back at Khanyi and her mom.

"This has to be done, bubu. You've been yearning to find your family right? Here they are now, It's not a good timing I know. But if not now, then when?" Nathi's mom firmly brushes my hand.

I hate that this is true, completely.

I nod in agreement and I gradually make my to the lounge with Khanyi tailing behind me to the couch.

"I'll be with you in seconds okay!" Khanyi mutters after helping me sit on the couch.

No, she mustn't leave me, not now.

"Okay," I force a smile, hoping she gets my message of discomfort but sadly she doesn't.

I bow my head down and fiddle with my fingers because of the nerves. I can literally feel everyone's eyes on me and that makes me anxiously vulnerable.

I just wanna be alone.

In no time everyone gathers at the lounge and some on the dinning chairs. Lethu is outside playing with the elder brothers kids and her new found cousin.

I'm happy she's happy.

"Spaghetti with mince and melted cheese," Khanyi places the plate on my tighs before she places herself comfortably next to me.
