Dutch Van der Linde: The Mayor's Party

Start from the beginning

"Yes, apparently so" Bronte nodded before going on to share the dirty laundry of the other guests, telling you all how much he despised them.

The three of you just listened, pretending to be interested and amused by his jokes. You hadn't known this man for long but you already knew that he was somebody you would aim to avoid. A member of high society who knows he is important and thinks he can not be replaced, thinks that nobody can touch him. It's a shame you all had to play nice this evening.

"Well, uh, it has been wonderful conversing with you but I can tell that you are very busy and I won't waste anymore of your time" Dutch tried to polite excuse you all once the other man was finished talking.

"Yes, yes, yes go enjoy yourselves and mingle with these vulgar scum. If your lady friend would like to avoid these people, she is welcome to join us here" Bronte faked a welcoming demeanour, but you felt Dutch's hand flex against your back at his words.

"A generous offer but I'm sure I'll be fine with Dutch" you assured him before Dutch could speak, moving closer to him and placing your hand on his chest. "Thank you anyway, Signor Bronte" you smiled politely.

"Good day, gentlemen" Dutch nodded at him.

"Good day to you" Bronte repeated. "But before you go..." he spoke, stopping you just before you could leave and making you all turn back to him. "What exactly are your plans here?" he asked.

"We've not made any...well...we are going to need some money" Dutch confessed, deciding not to lie.

"Money...yes, of course. Well, there's money at the trolley station. They keep a lot of cash there in the day. Now I could not involved myself in such matters but you...as a guest, yes. As my quest, do it! Okay, good day, gentlemen" Bronte told you before dismissing you all again.

"Goodbye" Dutch nodded at him before the three of you left, following Luca down the stairs. He showed you outside before leaving you all, letting you meet with Hosea and Bill.

"Gentlemen, let's go ingratiate ourselves" Dutch smiled as he greeted the two other men. "Okay. Arthur, go find the mayor if you can, and stay outta trouble. And steal nothing...unless it's information" he told the younger man.

"Of course" Arthur nodded before walking away.

"Hosea, you go find us some place to rob. Bill, go make us some new friends" Dutch gave them their jobs and they nodded before leaving.

"What about us?" you asked, looking out at the party.

"I've gotta find out if old Cornwall and Milton knows we're here...then I'll meet with you again. It won't take long, I promise" Dutch told you, not liking that he had to leave you alone.

"Alright but don't keep me waiting" you smiled, leaning up and kissing his cheek before walking away.

You joined the party, taking the time to see if you could find some information  while Dutch went to do what he needed to do.

You moved from group to group, managing to get more information from the women. They seemed to have a lot to complain about when it came to their husbands, while the men were more interested in boosting about their accomplishments and flirting with you than giving you any useful information.

You just finished speaking with a man who had a lot to drink, making him spill information more readily, and were looking for your next target.

"Signorina L/n" a familiar voice came from behind you and you turned to see Angelo Bronte. "Where is your date for the evening?" he asked with a fake interest.

"Tending to some business, he'll be back soon" you told him simply.

"And he just left you alone? That doesn't seem right" Bronte hummed. "How about a dance?" he asked.
