Existential Love

Loving you is not a puppy crush
I'm not infatuated by you
It's a responsible kind of love

Loving you is not a maelstrom of emotion
It's like settling down on a couch with your favourite book
It's a comfortable kind of love

Loving you is not heart stopping or full of butterflies
Its the steady pace of a heart finally having found its rhythm
It's an ineluctable kind of love

Loving you is not trepidition and stolen glances
It's like staring at the glory of the midday sun
It's an astonished kind of love

Loving you isn't easy on my heart
Loving you isn't easy on my brain
But loving you is a habit now, and not one I'm keen to break.
