I dropped everything for Iskall angst oops

Also I was reminded that canonically Iskall has stated that his MC character is nonbinary after forgetting so I'm gonna try writing that, hopefully it will stick in my brain cause I meant to start to change that when that was first passed around but I honestly forgot since it wasn't really passed around in my circles so... ><

Sorry for repost it's not saving edits >:( stupid Wattpad give me the option to update without sending out notifs otherwise I'd actually fix my mistakes

-----------------

Iskall flexed their bionic right hand. It responded, all the silver fingers stretching in a wave. But they didn't feel anything- no feeling of the tips of the fingers brushing their palm, no warmth of skin and blood.

Of course. Because it's metal. Not skin, Iskall patronized themself bitterly.

They hadn't meant to lose their right hand. No one means to lose their limbs. Iskall could make the argument that maybe someone as insane as Doc would, but then they reminded themself that Doc didn't exactly have the nicest backstory and they shouldn't think like that. It was an accident.

But that didn't mean anything when the damage was already done.

No one knew that Iskall had lost their arm. They had been on their own, and they got it replaced all on their own. To the rest of the hermits, Iskall had been sick for a week (installing- Iskall did NOT like the sound of installing a mechanical arm to their body, but that was what happened, and then physically and emotionally recovering from that) and then they had been distant and busy in the jungle with their Omega Tree and learning how to operate with the prosthetic. They had figured it out, sort of, but it all felt like some kind of fever dream still.

Iskall had found a long glove and dyed it to roughly their skin tone, and then sewn their severed sleeve back onto their shirt and put on their glove, and with their thick, durable vest no one had they had talked to been able to tell the difference.

In the back of their mind, Iskall knew that they should tell their friends. That the hermits would still love them and support them and help them through this rough time in their life, just as they had when they had decided that they weren't just male anymore and had rather bluntly announced that they wanted to go by gender neutral pronouns, and had been more comfortable in their skin since... until now, at least. But Iskall hadn't found the courage to admit that they screwed up... big time, and the consequences they have to pay now.

It wasn't like Iskall hadn't done something stupid like this before. They'd lost their eye before they became a player, in a bounty attempt gone wrong where shrapnel from a bullet going astray and created a minor explosion. Iskall had struggled to accept that that had happened for a while, but after upgrading from a glass eyeball to their cybernetic lens that gave them back vision in their left eye, as well as basically superpowers with tons of different overlays and sensors, they had regained their old enthusiasm and hadn't thought about it since.

Maybe it would help if I upgraded this stupid thing to be cooler, Iskall thought to themself as they held the arm out in front of them now, fingers splayed, examining the boring, shiny silver metal. No special perks, no lights in Iskallium green to make it look more like them. Iskall figured they could add to it easily enough and make it the Omega Cybernetic Arm of Doom or something, but they just hadn't felt comfortable considering how they would be operating on their own arm (again.)

Someone shot by with rockets and Iskall jumped. They scrambled for the sleeve for their arm and slid it on easily, except where it always seemed to catch on one specific plate. But then it was on smoothly, and Iskall almost felt like nothing was wrong with him.
