Epilogue | It's time.

Start from the beginning

"Well, that ties everything up nicely. No stolen item. The thief caught." The President grinned. He slapped the Minister's back. "Don't you just love it when everything works itself out?" They both laughed.

Jack shook his head, a soft smile slipping into his lips. He had so many questions, but it didn't look like he was going to get any answers. That was fine. He could live with that.

But what he couldn't live without knowing was what the hell was going through Sharp's head. He glanced at the man and was shocked to see him staring back. Green eyes. His heart skipped a beat.

"It's time, Jack," the President said, snapping his thoughts back.

He blinked then shot a look at the President. "Give me a second." Then he grabbed Sharp's arm and pulled him outside.

The President's laughter followed him outside, the door shutting cut it off.

"What're you doing?" Sharp asked when they were outside.

"I-" He paused. What did he even say? "Why did you leave so early?"

Sharp's mouth opened then closed. He glanced at the door. "I- Do you think it's the right time to have this conversation?"

Jack crosses his arms. "No, you're right. This isn't the best time but since my team and I are about to leave, now's as good a time as any."

"Jack..."

"Look, you're giving me mixed signals, Sharp. One second you're ignoring me and- and angry, and the next you're screwing-"

"Jack!" Sharp's face flushed, and he looked around quickly. "Be professional."

Jack exhaled. The best option with Sharp was to be honest. As honest as possible. He squared his shoulders. "I want to see you again. Come to New York when you're free. We can... I'd like to try and see what'll come from whatever it is between us."

Sharp was silent for like what felt like an eternity. Sweet Merlin. One word. His expression have nothing away.

When nothing happened, Jack sighed and turned around, but a hand grabbed his arm and spun him around. Then Sharp kissed him. Right there. In the hallway in front of the Minister's office. For anyone to see.

And what a kiss it was. When Sharp pulled back a moment later, Jack's eyes were closed. The drum of electricity rose up his spine. He licked his lips and opened his eyes.

Sharp grinned. "Maybe I'd like that too." And then he turned and walked down the hallway, leaving Jack staring after him.

It took a few more minutes for Jack to get himself in order before he returned, and the whole room stared as he stepped inside. He stopped, hand to his chest. "What?"

"Where's Sharp?" Weasley asked.

Jack licked his lips. "He said he had another engagement. Told me to pass on his goodbyes."

"Right." Weasley nodded.

The President grinned at him. "Are you ready?"

"Get moving, old man." Jack came over. He motioned his team over. "We're right behind you."

As they all stepped through, the President turned to the Minister. "Thank you so much for your hospitality. It's been fun."

The Minister smiled. "I hope next time isn't as fun."

They both laughed.

Crazy, old men. Jack shook his head. "Say bye to Potter and everyone for me," he told Weasley.

"Will do." Weasley shook his hand.

"Jack, let's go. We've been gone too long." The President came to stand beside him.

"Yes sir." He nodded then threw in the floo powder, calling out to the President's office and stepped through.

Tension greeted them once they came through the fireplace. The Aurors stood, prepared, watching them as they stopped.

"What?" The President asked.

They looked at each other and that sent a shiver through Jack. He had a terrible feeling. He stepped closer to the President.

"There's been chatter the last few days," Vincent Gast, the leader of the Major Investigation Department, said, standing next to Daniel Pastrana, the Director of Magical Security.

"About what?" The President asked.

"We were t sure, just the usual information, but early this morning a name was brought up that got us all paying attention," Gast said.

"Out with it, man," the President told him, walking over to his desk, but the next name stopped him dead in his tracks.

"Doug Trudon."
