Cataclysm

a large-scale and violent event in the natural world...

Looking back on our beginning, it's hard to believe all that transpired. The night the lights went out, my entire world changed along with everything I knew as fact. From the man I married and the father of my children to life as I knew it in our small town. My friends and neighbors were a coven of witches, my "husband" was their leader and the man I loved, his identical twin, was blackmailed into staying away from us. I was so blind to everything and everyone around me, but no more...

After all that went on, I survived the nightmare and came out stronger. We were able to rejoin with my children and the rest of our family in the safe zone. It's a government-run facility hidden away from the world and chaos outside.

This place has been like a vacation for everyone else, while I was kept in the hospital wing to heal up from my injuries. Now it's time for me to leave this infirmary, get back to normal, and go home. Many of the other families have started to leave this place during these past 2 weeks once we got the power back on. Using our wedding rings to retrieve the key and code, the lights came back on and the world began to heal.

During our stay, I've been held captive by an overprotective doctor. I've had to remain on here, due to my medical condition. As it turns out, I was in a deep unconscious state for over a month, as my body recovered from intense exhaustion and my newfound pregnancy. Hearing this unnerved me. To be in a coma for that long of a time felt incomprehensible, considering I thought it had only been a day.

After waking, Talion and I thwarted Dan's plan and destroyed the drones that were wreaking havoc throughout the world. My children had been living with Talion and learning about some things that happened while they were here with my sister. Like the fact that Dan had died, also that Talion and I had become a couple.

Once the government found out who Dan's customers were, and that Russia had ordered these drones, it became apparent that they did this to take over the world. Since then, our country has gone to war with Russia and now we have heard talk of a pandemic taking hold here in the United States.

It was pretty easy to figure out the culprit. Russia was the only country with electricity and utilities. Life as they know it didn't change, except for the riches they stole from other countries. It became well known that they were not affected by the immense power outage around the world once their army began to invade their surrounding countries and the United States. This entire time they used our suffering to their advantage and our government worries that they still have the technology and capability to do this all over again.

We stopped the drones 13 days ago and since then, I've been here, in this hospital bed. I've been tested for everything that may have caused the coma. My sister wanted me to stay here, at the Safe Zone even longer, or move in with them for a while, but Talion is itching to leave. Now we just have to decide where to live. If we go to his Astaroth Ranch and Vineyard, the kids will be uprooted and Talion worries this will hurt them.

He agreed a fresh start would be good, but my twins were not happy. They have been working on their father and I'm being outvoted. Our two kids have been through a lot, but going home to Talion's house, within our own town, is not very appealing to me. I'd rather begin our new life together in a completely new place, rather than deal with the twisted memory of Dan. The man tricked me into believing he was my husband. Dan did despicable things to all of us and after he tried to kill me twice, I obliterated him, along with our neighborhood.

Talking with Talion, he would like to explain the truth to them, but I feel that this may be a bit too much right now. How do I tell my children that the man we lived with, for a decade, was never their dad and that Uncle Talion is their actual father? There is no easy way to explain it all, and the kids seem fine that Talion is here with us now.

"Hey Cece, how is my lady today? Are you ready to get out of this place?" Talion asks as I look up at him with a big grin.

I ask, "Did the doctor finally give me the all-clear? Can I leave the hospital today?"

While he starts pulling out my clothes from the drawers, Talion replies, "Yes, babe, let's get you dressed, and then we'll head out. Kelly has the kids with her and we need some alone time."

Immediately, I reply with a sultry voice, "All alone, really? Just you and I, in the suite that I've never even seen? Hmm, what will we do to pass the time?"

"Cece, we need to talk about where we are going to live. While I would love to take you all to the ranch, I still feel the kids would be more comfortable staying in their school. Our two only have one more year in their elementary school, correct?" He asks as I nod and take my shirt from him.

Once I'm dressed and ready to go, Talion hands me a pair of slippers to slide on my feet. It's not like we are going outside, so I put them on and stand up. Then I walk over to the built-in dresser to double-check the drawers one last time. As I do, Talion takes a seat and just watches me with a smile on his face.

Hearing a knock at the door, I turn and say, "Come in."

Poking his head inside, the doctor says, "Well, looks like you're ready to leave. How are you feeling today, Cecelia?"

"I feel good, really good, and thank you for taking such good care of me," I reply as he nods while handing me some papers.

He starts to explain, "Alright, here are some forms that you need to sign. They state..."

"I'll sign them Doc and I've got a pen too. We are looking forward to getting back to normal." Talion says while snatching the papers from his hand.

"Oh, alright then... Good luck, you two, and safe travels." The doctor says as I look at Talion curiously.

Why is my husband acting strange?

"Cece, let's get going, babe," Talion says looking agitated.

Again, with the babe comment. I don't remember Talion ever calling me that, but Dan would, quite often. Here I go again, reading more into it than need be. I've got to just let it go and forget about that man. Dan is in hell where he belongs and he can never return. I sent him there, and that's where he deserves to be, for eternity.

"Alright, I'm ready. Let's get going, babe," I say in response with a smirk.

Looking at me questioningly, he opens the door and we are on our way. Walking down the hall, he leads the way and I follow behind him.

"Talion, hold my hand," I say as he turns around and grabs it, as though this is a strange request.

Well, that's odd... Brush it off Cece and just walk faster, I tell myself. It's not like you've been in the hospital for exhaustion. Christ, he's acting just like... No, I'm not going to even let that enter my mind. My husband needs some alone time, and that's all. Jesus Cece, get it together.
