CHAPTER 7

AMIR

"Yaya mama na kira(mom is calling you) Haifa said.

Okay"i said and met her in her room

"Amir we will be going to Kaduna; mama said...

"Why?? But I just came back last week I said.

"Will you let me finish young man??Mama scolded.

"Sorry I apologized.

"We will be going by next month, one of my friend's daughter is getting married and she wants both you and Haifa to come along; mama said.

"OK then" please remind me when it's time,I will be going to my room now I said and went back to my room.

I can't wait to be in Kaduna,I don't know why but I just want to meet sabreen,I felt sorry for her when she told me she was an orphan,I even sent her a phone I don't know why? But I think I like her, maybe I shake off my thoughts and went back to work,I have a meeting tomorrow with the foreign investors and I have to be ready for it.

It's has been almost a month since Amir gave me the phone,I have been using it and at the same time hiding it away from kaka, the phone has been helping me alot,I even download games to play when I am bored, sabreen sometimes even use it to do some assignment, it has been alot of help thanks to Amir, about Amir;"we are good friends now, he even tells me that he will be coming to kaduna very soon and he will come by. He asked me to treat him as a brother I never had, and I agreed.
I sometimes really want to stop this because we're not from the same background but I don't know whats stopping me from doing so.

A call from my phone brought me out of my thoughts, maybe it will be Amir or rabi, I got rabi's phone number when I went to buy some groceries the other day.

I checked and it was Amir, why is he calling me?? I asked myself

"Salamualikum".

"Waalikumusalamu how are you? He asked.

"Fine, alhamdullilah how is work?I ask.

"Work is fine, but I just arrived at Kaduna right now.he said.

"Really!!! Like now?? I ask

"Yes, and I called to tell you not to come out today, I don't want to hit you with my car he said making me giggle.

"Toh alhaji Amir i said laughing.

"Okay got to go mama is here, he said

"What!!! You are here with your mom?I ask.

"Yes and with Haifa as well what is wrong?

"Um nothing, bye I said and end the call.

After magarib prayer,I was sitting reading Quran when nabila came in telling me kaka wants to see my right away.i closed the Quran and head to the sitting room.

"Kaka am here; I said.

"I have already told you girls that you will be getting you married to anyone I want right".

"Oh Allah, not this again,I thought this old lady has gotten over with the idea of getting us married.

"Am I not talking to you she yelled making me flinch .

"E.. e.. eh kaka(yes)I stammered

"Okay ke sabreen I want you to be ready someone has bought your bride price and he wants the wedding in two weeks he is out of the country now, but he will be back in three days so you can get to know him she said making tears to form in my eyes.

"No kaka please not now please;I beg my tears falling".

"Ke wuce ki ban wuri(get out of my here)do you know how much he paid for your bride price young lady, five hundred thousand naira and when he comes back you will go shopping anything you want for the wedding, and he doesn't want anything not even a spoon he just want his bride, you think I made a bad decision I choose a rich man, he is rich and through that we can be rich she said making me cry even more.

But I don't want that kaka,I don't love him and I don't know him please I don't want that just please return the money I said and kaka slapped me And ask me to be ready in the next three days my groom will be coming I just got up and went to our room I was crying not knowing what to do, Allah who is going to help me if not you please help me help this slave of yours.

"Adda please stop crying you will get sick, nabila said cleaning my tears.

"Bila I want... to die...I wa...nt to follow mo..m and dad I am tir...ed,I had en...ough na...bila no one is here to he...lp us I said crying.

Ya sabreen, Allah is here to help us everything shall pass someday, please stop saying this,if you die what about me ,inshallah we will go through this together she said.

"Inshallah I said and hug her.

Why is life being so hard for us,why I asked no one in particular.

My tears are dryed by now I looked at nabila, who is fast asleep by my side.
What will I do to make this girl happy?I will just accept and marry the one kaka choose for me, but untill he accepts I take nabila.I have to accept I have no other option, I will continue praying to God to help me.i me.i checked the time and it was 2:10 am I got up and went to perform ablution and then I pray asking God to ease my pain and help me find a way, to show me the right path, I pray for my parents then nabila and myself.

I went back to bed and try to sleep but sleep was not doing me a favour maybe because I was thinking non stop.
