Chapter 38 ♔

Jihoon stared at her in shock, "W-Why would it break your heart though?" he asked hesitently.

"Isn't it obvious?! BECAUSE I F*CKING LOVE YOU, IDIOT!!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. Her face was red in embarrassment and her fists were clenched even tighter due to her frustration.

My eyes widened as I stared at Naomi with a shocked expression.

S-She loves him?! She actually has real, genuine feelings for him?

This entire time, I thought she was just another disposable blind date. Someone who was planning to use Jihoon for his money or looks.

Guess I shouldn't judge a book by its cover...

My heart pounded at the thought of another girl loving Jihoon. My Jihoon.

It didn't feel good. It didn't feel good at all. 

Jihoon, who was completely unaware of my discomfort, continued to stare at Naomi in shock, "W-What? You love me? But you barely even know me...this is the first time we've met."

I clenched my fist and nodded furiously as I agreed with Jihoon. I turned my head towards Naomi, "Yeah, that's right! You literally just met him today! You guys didn't even talk online or communicate in any way before this. How would you ever fall in love with him?" I questioned her with great suspicion. 

What is she trying to do here? Does she really love him? Or is she just trying to use him for his money or looks like the others?

Naomi gave a bitter smile as she wiped her tears and looked down at her feet, "...That's just how it is. Love works in mysterious ways..." she whispered in melancholy. 

I scoffed, "Cut the crap. What are you really afte-"

"I've been alone my entire life," she interrupted me, her gaze still fixated on the floor, "I didn't have many friends, not to mention a boyfriend. Everyone always called me plain or boring. It was true, I didn't stand out much - looks-wise and personality-wise. Just when I was about to give up, my parents suddenly proposed me an arranged marriage. I was against the idea at first, but as soon as they showed me your picture, I instantly fell in love. Your cute features, your soft skin, your kind, crescent-like eyes, soft pink lips...I fell in love with everything about you. I couldn't wait to meet you in person and see what kind of man you are. After meeting you today, I fell even deeper. You're so kind, like a gentleman-no, like a prince. I began to get my hopes up, that I could finally marry the man of my dreams; my very own prince charming...that I could finally stop being alone. But now...all my hopes and dreams are crushed. And it's all...your fault!!!" she suddenly snapped, looking up from the floor and piercing daggers at me.

I jolted up in shock at her sudden outburst aimed towards me. If looks could kill...my soul would be sinking down into Tartarus right now.

Naomi stalked her way towards me in large strides, "YOU!! YOU HOMEWRECKING BITCH!!! IT'S YOUR FAULT!! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT I WON'T GET MARRIED TO JIHOON!! YOU STOLE HIM FROM ME!! YOU STOLE MY FUTURE, MY HAPPINESS!!!" she screeched at the top of her lungs as she got closer to me.

I gulped in fear as I started backing away. W-What the actual hell?! Where did all that anger come from?! She's like a completely different person now compared to when she first got here!

I swear I could even see fangs forming in her mouth. She's literally becoming a feral animal at this point..

"YOU- I'LL KILL YOU!!!" 

Just as Naomi was about to grab my collar, Jihoon grabbed her wrist and stepped in front of me. He ushered me to stay behind him and held his free arm out in a protective manner.
