Chapter 12: Guardian-Eyeless Jack style

You chose EJ although you have no clue why. He was rather cold to you yet for some reason that drew you in.  Was he tsundere you couldn't help but wonder...

"Hey y/n. Let's go." EJ said to you dragging you into a long hallway. After stopping in the middle of the hallway to show you a room that looked like it hadn't been used in ages he turned around to ask you something.

"Why did you pick me?"

"I don't know. I guess you just seemed different and I kind of wanted to get to know you better. Why do you ask?"

"No reason. Just curious since I wasn't expecting you to pick me. Just more responsibility on my part really. Listen y/n we come from different places so we probably won't agree on much. Got it? I'm not human." EJ was very blunt with you but you didn't care because at least you were learning something about him.

"If you're not human there where are you from? "

"That doesn't matter. Anyways... I have to show you around." EJ led you around the mansion showing you every room not bothering to stop for more then five seconds until at the end of the third floor there was one door left that he skipped.

"What's that room?" You asked curiously. "It's a wall. A wall behind the door." EJ said nervously.

"I don't believe you."

"Well it is." EJ said convinced by his own words.

"Alright then..." You figured that on your own time you would sneak off and check it out, or you could ask one of the others. EJ led you back to the living room where BEN was playing video games and Laughing Jack was playing with Sally. He headed into the kitchen and left you just standing there alone. You decided to sit down on the sofa and watch BEN. As you were admiring his skills Smile Dog came up to you and spread himself across your lap as Jeff went to sit down next to you. You rubbed Smile Dogs back and he shut his eyes and fell asleep. Jeff just rolled his eyes and mumbled to himself.

"Even Smile wants her attention."

BEN turned around because he must have heard Jeff mumbling to himself. He forgot to pause his game so his character ended up dying before he realized the game was still playing.

"Oh hey y/n. Jeff..." BEN said the last part a lot quieter.

"Hey guys!" You said unaware of the building tension in the room. The boys started fidgeting around until one of them spoke up.

"Hey y/n...? Why'd you pick Eyeless Jack?" BEN said trying to whisper bit failing.

"Yeah why did you? We didn't think he was really all that nice to you. Kinda hostile" Jeff chimed in.

In the kitchen Eyeless Jack put his scalpel down and pulled his hood even farther over his face(if that's possible). He his behind the doorway and listen to your conversation. In the living room Laughing Jack and Sally both got up and joined in as well.

"Why did you? I mean one of us would have been better right? Like nicer probably. EJ isn't the most friendly person around." Laughing Jack said.

"What do you mean? Of course he is! Eyeless Jack is just as good as any of you guys!" Sally said grabbing your hand and pulling you away from them.

"Don't listen to them they're big meanies. They pick on EJ because he isn't human, but half of them don't even have a place to say!"

"What can you tell me about..." you started saying before Eyeless Jack popped out of the kitchen and grabbed you and pulled you outside of the mansion into the forest. Smile just whimpered and jumped off your lap.

"If there's something you want to know then just ask me okay?" Eyeless Jack said sighing as if he thought he was about to he bombarded with questions.

"Why do you wear that mask?"

He cleared his throat and replied "well... eyeless. I have no eyes. So I wear this. Just black sockets. Okay?"

"Okay? Can you take you--"

"No."

"Why no-"

"No."

"Plea--"

"No."

"Fine." You said giving up on trying to get him to take his mask up. For now at least. Sally waltzed outside to join you and she made you play tag with her. Eyeless Jack just stared at you guys while sitting on the bottom steps. He sighed again.

"Why did she pick me? I know she said she wants to get to know me better... nah I can't get close. I just can't let her find them. It's my job, but the others... I'll only lose her in the end... I know it." He mumbled airily so no one could hear him except for Slender reading his mind.

"Hmm EJ... I have another favor to ask of you..." Slender's voice echoed in EJ's head...
