It's been weeks since Ashleigh's death.

And a week since his last kiss with his beloved.

He sat in a café, not so eagerly awaiting his order. His mind had travelled to other places.

In a couple of days, he had lost two important people in his life. One to death and the other to distrust.

His eyes,  focused on the clean transparent window. Looking at the raindrops tumbling freely down the glass. Leaving streaks of water droplets behind. Somehow, his mind was elsewhere.

That he didn't hear the soft ting of the doorbell as someone entered.

Or the quiet clicks of heels as someone approached him quietly.
