Don't take it against me
If i decide
to pack my bags
And leave.
Afterall,
I used to wait
All year round
For summer to come
And bring with it
The scent of your hair
And the music of your voice.
I found hope
In the knowledge that
The wind
Will take you with it.
To home.
To me.Don't take it against them
If the clouds
decided
To carry me
someplace else--
A land of rainy days
Faraway
From where
The sunshine reigned.
Afterall,
All my memories
Of you
Are contained
Not in snowglobes
But
in the greenhouse
Of our youth.Don't take it against the time
If it decides
That today is the day
I will leave you behind.
Afterall,
We both know
That you will no longer
Come back
Like you did
The summer
I last saw
the grey of your eyes.Don't take it against the waves
If they can no longer
carry you
To the place
Where your heart was.
Where your heart is.
If they kept you
in the depths of the ocean
Like sunken treasure
No one can retrieve.
Afterall,
A stone,
No matter how precious,
Is much too heavy
To be lifted
By our longing alone.Don't take it against me
If i decide
To pack my bags
And leave.
Afterall,
I was just following
Footsteps
In the desert,
That disappear
Quicker
Than
my yearning.
