Life was perfect.
I had everything. A loving family, a boyfriend, amazing friends and I was popular at school.
I didn't realize the things I took for granted though.Life was great.
I couldn't ask for anything else. I loved the surf, the ocean always seemed to call my name. I loved the island life and surfing with my friends and sister whenever we got the chance.
I remember the day everything changed.
My friends and I decided to attend a party at the beach one Saturday night. And I'm not going to lie, of course there was alcohol. Everything was going great, and the surfing was the best part.
I sat on my board in the water with my best friends Maddison and Lilo by my side. We talked while floating in the water. My sister and boyfriend back at the beach with all our other friends and people.
The beautiful red, pink and golden hues of the sunset casted down on us and reflected off the water. The waves where calmer than usual that night. We stopped talking at one point taking in the moment. Slowly drifting from each other and that's when it happened.
One moment I was above the water and the next I was fighting for my life.
I remember my name being shouted the sounding of screams and water splashing. The last thing I remember was being hit with something and getting lifted out of the water and then I blacked out.
I soon woke up to a sound of a steady beeping. Everything change from that point on. It was hard to recover.
My left leg, was completely gone from the knee down and learning to use a prosthetic was hard. Obvious shark bite scars ran up my abdomen, left arm and what I had left of my left leg.
Life is hard.
It's funny how fake people can be. I didn't want people's pity, but that's what I got.
My boyfriend broke up with me not too long after the attack. Him and Lilo has no issue hiding their relationship with me. My best friend and my ex. How great.
It was hard to get around, I didn't like the way I looked anymore. I couldn't even do the thing that made me most happy and now we're moving. Moving to a gloomy and depressing place that won't make the situation any better.
My sister blamed it on me, I was loosing Maddison, my parents were arguing and I was having a hard time trying to find my confidence and happiness.
Who would've thought everything would be fixed just by moving to a small town.
