"Don't do this, Alexander. She is only using you..."
I don't bother answering her. She can say all she wants. I will not end things with Fallon.
***
I've been sitting in front of Fallon's apartment for ten minutes now, trying to calm my nerves. My mother has me so pissed off right now...that I'm shaking.
I can't believe she almost hit me. She has never in my whole life raised her hand to me. It was like she was an entirely different person.
My phone vibrates on my dash for the thousandth time. She won't stop calling my phone. I pick it up and send her straight to voicemail.
The first few messages she left me...she was begging me to forgive her and for me to come back to the house to talk. After that, she was downright ignorant. She started calling Fallon all kinds of nasty names and downgraded her for being a waitress.
I don't know why she judges people based on where they came from and what they do for a living. Me on the other hand...I don't care. If you treat me nice, I'll treat you nice.
I hear a soft tap on my window and turn to see Fallon staring at me. A smile forms on her lips but it doesn't reach her eyes. She looks so tired.
I open the door, "Hey."
"Hey," she says softly. "Everything okay? You've been sitting out here for a while now and I was worried..." She tails off. I love it when she rambles.
I sigh and run my fingers through my hair. "I'm okay," I tell her. "I'm just...having a bad day." She frowns at hearing that. "But it's all better now."
Her frown instantly turned into a smile. I could look at that smile every day.
"Dinner is ready," she says and takes me by the hand and chuckles. "It's been ready. We were just waiting for you to show up."
"I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were waiting for me to eat." Had I known...
"It's okay," she cuts my thoughts off and opens the door. The smell of garlic bread and spaghetti makes my stomach growl. "Someone's hungry," she giggles.
"That makes two of us," a female voice says. I almost forgot about her friend being here. "What the hell took you so long? I'm dying here."
"Ally," Fallon hisses. "What is wrong with you?"
I chuckle, "It's okay. You could have eaten without me if you were that hungry."
"I told you he wouldn't care," Ally exclaimed. "But no...you made me wait."
"Ignore her," Fallon says. "She turns into a beast when she's hungry."
I laugh. These girls are something else.
The three of us sit down for dinner. Even though it was a little cold, it was still good. When we were finished we all pitched in to clean up the kitchen. Well...Fallon and I did most of the work. All Ally did was wiped off the table.
"I'm so full," Ally pats her stomach. "That was so good."
"It really was," I agree. "Thank you for having me."
"Psh..don't mention it. I was hungry too. All I ate was chips."
I frown upon hearing this. "Why didn't you eat?"
She sighs, "I was late this morning and didn't have time to eat." I forgot she was late this morning. "By the time I got to work, it was really busy." She gives me a sheepish look. "I was eating chips when I talked to you."
"What? That was hours ago."
"She does it all the time," Ally yawns. "She normally eats once a day. God...I'm tired. I think I'm going to lay down for a little while."
"Okay," Fallon yawns herself.
"Why don't you go to bed? I can come back tomorrow or something."
Fallon shakes her head, "I'm okay. Want to watch a movie?" She changes the subject.
"Are you sure? I don't mind coming back."
"Alex...I'm fine. I didn't ask you to come over just to eat dinner." She takes my hand in hers, lacing our fingers together, and looks up at me through her long beautiful lashes. "I-I wanted to spend time with you..."
I can't argue with that. She leads me to the couch and we sit down. "Anything in particular you want to watch?" She asks.
I will pretty much watch anything. "Whatever you want to watch, I'll watch."
She turns on a movie I never seen before and leans her head on my shoulder. I give her hand a gentle squeeze and try and focus on the movie as much as possible. But the argument with my mother kept drifting back in.
"Did you like it?" She asked when the movie was over.
"I did. Who knew Dwayne Johnson, could pull off a tutu," I laugh. "How the hell did he even fit in that thing?"
She laughs along with me, "I don't know...but he looked good in it."
I smile and push her down on the couch, pinning her beneath me. "Oh really?"
She tries to wiggle her way out...but I stop her by pushing my body into hers. "So you like big beefy men like that?"
She giggles, "Obviously not...I'm with you aren't I?"
I think I'm offended. "What are you trying to say...that I'm small?"
She bursts into a fit of laughter and wraps her legs around my waist. "You're anything but small," he smirks. "If anything you're perfect."
I kiss the tip of her nose and lean my forehead against hers. My mother is so wrong about her.
She cups my chin and lifts it so that she is looking me dead in my eyes, "What's wrong?" You can see the concern in her eyes. "And don't tell me nothing. You haven't been yourself since you got here."
"I'm afraid to tell you," I say closing my eyes.
I'm afraid she wouldn't want to fight for what I so desperately wanted— her.
She traces my jawline with her finger, "Afraid to tell me what?"
I open my eyes to see her staring at me. Her beautiful blue eyes that were sparkling with happiness a moment ago were now gone— replaced with absolute fear. But she never pulled away. She continued to soothingly caress my face with her soft fingertips.
I sigh in defeat and decide to tell her everything about me and my family. I think the most surprising part to her was learning that I was the owner of Club Mix.
So...you're Alexander Grant?" She asks and I nod. "And your mother already hates me without meeting me?" I nod again.
She stays silent, but her hand doesn't stop its movements.
After a moment she sighs and cradles my face with her hands. "You know...I have read a lot of articles about you and never really cared for you."
I snort. "Fucking tabloids always lie. Yes...I have slept with a lot of women, but not every time I left the club. I do have some class," I tell her truthfully.
All I have to do is be seen with a girl and I'm automatically fucking her.
"If I would have known who you were before this...I wouldn't have even given you a chance," she tells me. "But I'm glad things worked out the way that they did."
Relief washes over me.
She leans her head to the side. "I can tell that you aren't all what they say you are."
"I'm not. I swear."
She smiles and pulls my face down, locking her lips with mine, only breaking the kiss long enough to tug my shirt over my head.
