Starting over

Once the kids left I had the place to myself. I didn't know what to do. I'm usually never alone for a long period of time.  This was something I would have to get used to. But not today.

I grabbed my purse and started walking around.  No idea where to go,  or where I was. I just left. Not running away from anything just clearing my mind.

About ten minutes into the walk , I was officially lost. The walk probably wasn't a good idea.  So like an idiot I walked further into the unknown area.  I kept walking until I bumped into another person.

Well not exactly a bump. More along the lines of I fell to the ground.

"I am so sorry miss. Are you okay?"

The voice was deep but soft. The kind that makes you feel... safe.

"Oh... I'm fine."

"You sure, you hit the ground pretty hard. "

" Believe me I'm fine."

" Well let me help you up."

He offered his hand and I took it.

" Thanks that was a little embarrassing. "

" No problem. Uh... I'm Jess I live just up the road."

" I'm Amber.  I just moved into the Keller duplex. "

" The Keller duplex? Well you're a bit out of the way."

" Yeah. .. I just went for a walk and now I'm. .. lost."

" Well I can walk you back if you want."

" Really? "

     " Yeah I don't mind. Just give me a second. "

He whistled , "topher come here boy!"

" Topher?"

" Yeah my dog."

A split second later a big chocolate lab ran up to Jess and jumped on him.

"Easy boy. Well we better get you back. "

He walked me back to the duplex and we pretty much talked about him.  I had no objections. Mainly because I didn't know how my new life went.

" Well this is where we leave you. Nice meeting you Amber. "

" You too Jess. "
