Corvin held me close as I sighed shakily.  Suddenly, a flash of pain coursed through my torso.  It was as if I was stabbed, as well as Corvin, as he collapsed to the ground with me.  "Corvin? My ai? Pray that our little (Y/N) lives through all of this..." I sputtered out, the blood spilling from my mouth.  My breathing grew labored as the amount of pain increased.  Tears shimmied down his face as he grasped my hand tightly.  Corvin brought my hands to his lips and kissed my knuckles weakly.  "Of course, mon Cherie. She's a literal petit guerrier. If we die here, (Y/N) will be fine on her own."  He assured me, his eyes drooping as the light in his eyes faded.

I planted a light kiss on his lips as my eyes closed slowly.  I died peacefully and in the arms of my love.

~End of Flashback~

Your P.O.V

My once dry eyes became a waterfall of emotion as I listened to my mother's story of the last time she was alive.  I shook my head in disbelief and wiped my face with the backs of my hands.  "I-I shouldn't have run off, mother. That was so childish of me.  If I had stayed to help you then-then maybe you wouldn't be-"  I started to hiccup severely at this point and threw my arms around mother's neck.  She chuckled as she held me close, rubbing large circles into my back.  As I sniffled in the crook of her neck and processed her story in my head, a realization hit me and I pulled away quickly to look at my mother in the eyes.  "Mother, if you're dead and I'm here talking to you right now, am I dead?!"  I panicked.  Mother placed her hands gently on my shoulders to calm me down and said, "Let me explain, my himegimi," She breathed in and placed her hands on her lap.  "You are currently stuck in the in-between of life and death. I'm here because I'm going to give you the chance to save your friends. However, once you've saved them, you'll return to the Afterlife with me. Or, you can come with me now.  Either way, you're coming home with me."

My eyes widened at the offer, but I knew what I had to do.  I took a deep breath and looked her in the eyes.  "I need to help my friends, Mother," I stated confidently.  She smiled and reached out for my hands, squeezing them lovingly.  "Then wake up."

Lenalee's P.O.V

After assisting Allen with an Akuma, I looked over my shoulder and saw (Y/N) has collapsed.  I glided towards her as fast as I could and dropped to my knees beside Kanda.  "Kanda! What's wrong with (Y/N)?"  I shouted over the blasts of the cannons and the shouts of other Exorcists.  He didn't respond to me, as he was busy looking down at (Y/N).  I scoffed and checked my friend of any wounds, and that's when I felt something wet on my hand.  I retracted my hand back immediately and was horrified to see that it was blood that stained my hand.  I look down at (Y/N)'s face, which was rapidly becoming discolored as time passed.  I applied pressure on the wound and tried to call out for a medic.  I did this for so long until a golden orb appeared in front of me, turning into a silhouette of a geisha.  She crouched down on the other side of (Y/N) and held her hand over the wound, her palm facing downward.  A light emitted from her hand and sealed the wound with a golden plate over it.

As the light of the support plate faded away, a deep gasp for breath came from (Y/N).  At the same time, the geisha had disappeared as quickly as she came.  The plate began to grow over (Y/N) like it was some sort of suit.  The gold began to take shape into a knight's armor.  She stood up smoothly as a helmet was formed over her head.  She looked down at Kada and held out a gloved hand to him.  He stared at her, but gladly took it and together, the three of us helped assist other members, as well as took solo kills.  Whatever the geisha did, it really powered up (Y/N) and helped us out in this explosive, bloody battle.

Kanda's P.O.V

The last few groups of Akumas had fallen thanks to our knight in golden armor, (Y/N).  The long and brutal war had finally ended and everyone around us counted our dead and wounded.  I glanced over at (Y/N), who slipped her helmet off and whipped her (h/c) out of her face.  I blushed and nervously reached for her hand, squeezing it as I looked away.  She gripped my hand back and grabbed my other hand tightly.  (Y/N) smiled and cupped my face.  Caught up in the moment, I unconsciously leaned in.  Surprisingly, a pair of warm lips met my own in a gentle and long kiss.

We both pulled away when we both needed air, resting our foreheads against each other.  As I panted, I flashed a dorky smile at her.  (Y/N) smiled back at me and wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me tightly.  We stood there for a long time, holding each other close until (Y/N) started to groan.  It sounded like she was in severe pain.  She ripped herself out fo my embrace and crunched up away from me, holding her abdomen as the golden armor faded away.  "(Y/N)? (Y/N), what's wrong? Lotus?!"  I flew to her side as she collapsed into my arms.

(Y/N) held onto a large, gaping wound in her stomach that was bleeding through her uniform.  I gawked at the wound and frantically looked around, noticing that we were alone on the field.  "Medic! I need a-"  (Y/N) gripped my arm tightly and looked up at me, sweat beading on her forehead as her face was discoloring.  She shook her head and squeezed her eyes closed.  "(Y/N)? Why?"  "I'm not going to...m-make it from...this wound. All I ask is that...you don't forget...me, Yuu. I...love you very...much."  (Y/N) struggled to say, smiling sadly up at me as she cupped my cheek with her blood-stained hand, wiping away stray tears that fell from my eyes.  I returned a sad smile and said, "Well, if that's the case..." I trailed off as I leaned in quickly for another long kiss, although this one was desperate and sloppy.

I recognized that we both needed air and pulled away slowly.  "I have to sneak in those last few. My lotus, even though you leave me here, I know you'll need me to be strong. I leave you with a smile and a goodbye kiss. I love you, (Y/N)."  I kissed her knuckles and held her close to my chest.  (Y/N) flashed her memorable smirk and gave off a noticeable blush, rubbing her thumb across my cheek.  "I'll always be watching over you, my dear warrior. I love you forever and always, Yuu. Thank you for being there for me..."  (Y/N) trailed off as the light in her eyes faded away, her hand dropping to her side.  I dropped my strong facade as my bottom lip trembled and let out loud cried, not caring who saw or heard me.  Moments passed as I held her cold, limp body.  Lenalee flew over to me, dropping to her knees beside me and grieved with me.

A week later, (Y/N)'s funeral was held.  After the coffin was buried six feet into the ground, we all noticed that flowers grew on her grave when everything surrounding it was just dirt and debris.  Over the years, the Black Order was in progress of being rebuilt, and beside it, a Hall of Remembrance was created for those who fell in the battle between the Noahs and the Black Order.  When it first opened, I entered the Hall and gazed at the portraits framed in gold.  Towards the end of the hall, I stopped in front of the portrait of (Y/N), who smirked proudly back at me with all her glory and beauty.  I smiled back at her portrait, brushing my fingers against it.  I'll take my time here on Earth and do what I need to do to protect those who are unable to protect themselves.  When my time comes to an end, I'll think I have done enough for this world.

But, it's only a matter of time...
