Chapter 5

???'s P.O.V

        It was late into the night when I skipped around the rooftop and danced with a few of my little servants while I hummed a simple tune.  I giggled and twirled, my skirt flowing out as I did so.  My twirling landed me on my bottom at the at of the roof.  I grinned brightly as I swung my legs back and forth on the roof, happily singing a song that I loved.  My head tilted side to side to the tune of the song.  'Lord Millennium is in search of you. Looking for the heart, now. Have you heard the news...'  I stopped singing and turned around only slightly to one of my servants who had a report.  My eyes scanned over the words quickly and handed the report back to the servant.

        "She's coming, isn't she?"  It nodded and turned away, jumping off the roof and into the mansion.  I flashed a crazy grin and cocked my head to the side sharply.  I looked up at the starry night sky and spoke to no one in particular.  "I wonder if she has the heart..."  I smiled and continued to sing.

Y/N's P.O.V

        I slept dreamlessly for the entire night, not remembering exactly what had happened.  I would've liked to get more sleep, but Lenalee wouldn't allow it since I heard Lenalee pounding on my door.  "(Y/N)! Wake up! Big brother is sending you on a mission with Kanda!"  I groaned and sat up in my bed, rubbing my bedhead tiredly.  'Not that idiot again...'  I sighed heavily and slid out of bed.  I stumbled towards the door and opened it and leaned against the doorframe.  "I'll be right out, Lena. Give me a few minutes."

        The green-haired girl nodded and leaned against my door when I closed it.  I picked up my uniform and started dressing as I thought about a few things.  'Why do I feel a sudden rush of anger? Probably just anger with Kanda.'  I grabbed my scythe, slid it into its sheath on my back carefully, and walked out of my room to meet with Lenalee.  We walked alongside each other down the halls as we made our way towards Komui's office.  It was a quiet trip until I noticed that Lenalee was smiling teasingly at me.  "What is it, Lenalee?"  Lenalee giggled quietly and started skipping down the hall childishly.

        "Ne, (Y/N)? Do you like Kanda-san?"  The question caught me off guard and I stopped dead in my tracks.  I just watched her as she turned to face me, my jaw completely dropped.  "What kind of question is that, Lenalee? And what made you come up with that question?"  She shrugged and started to play with one of her pigtails nervously.  "First of all, you two fight a lot like a married couple, and it's cute. That's all."  She then chuckled and continued to skip down the hallway.  I pinch the bridge of my nose and groan, then continuing to follow my friend.

        'Sometimes I don't know who this girl is...'  I opened Komui's office door and found him snoring loudly at his impossibly messy desk.  "Is Big Brother asleep?"  Lenalee peeked over my shoulder.  I nodded and opened the door wider for her.  "Go ahead and do your thing, Lenalee."  She sighs and heads over to her hunched over brother and proceeds to whisper something into his ear.  Almost immediately does he wake up and throws himself at her, hugging her waist like a child.

        "LENALEE-CHAN! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!"  Lenalee let out a frustrated groan and kicked Kamui off her.  "I'm not! Anyway, where is Kanda-san, big brother?"  At that exact moment, we all heard the door being opened.  "Speak of the devil..."  I murmured under my breath, crossing my arms over my chest.  "Let's go, brat."  I rolled my eyes before I followed Kanda out of the office and out onto down to the docks by the order.

        We waited for our ferryman to pick us up for only a few minutes before he appeared on the river.  We boarded swiftly and we were on our way.  While I sat in front of my old friend, I rested my elbow on my knee and looked out onto the water.  My mind began to wander, and I found myself beginning to consider Lenalee's question from earlier.  'Do I like this soba loving man? No, we have been friends and probably always will be.'  I felt a pull on my hair and looked up.  "Ugh. What is it, Yuu?"  I smirked at Kanda's reaction when I called him by his first name.  "Don't call me that. We're here."
