Kanda's Lotus - Kanda x Reader (Revamp)

Chapter 9

(A/N:  I know I never really announced this fact, but the brunette man stealer's name is Cattia.)

Lenalee's P.O.V

        The past month has been filled with intense anger from (Y/N) and guilt from Kanda.  Everyone could feel it and it was making everyone uneasy.  The confession didn't go so well, which explains (Y/N)'s bad mood this entire month.  The new girl and Kanda got together on Valentine's Day, but I'm not sure why he would go for someone like her and not (Y/N).  I got so angry when (Y/N) stormed into my room and told me everything that happened, struggling to put her words into coherent sentences as she cried.  It was a heartbreaking sight.  The makeup on her face was beginning to run and she tore her hair out of place.  I felt so bad for her.

~FLASHBACK~

        I was seated at my vanity, busily brushing out my hair when I heard my door open and then slam closed.  The slamming of the door was followed by heavy, loud footsteps.  I placed my brush on my vanity and turned in my stool to see my friend riping the pin out of her hair, causing her hair to fall in her face, then falling face down onto my bed.  I heard mumbling from (Y/N) since she was hugging one of my pillows close to her face.  I sighed and stood up from my stool, walking over and sitting on the bed beside her and rubbing her back soothingly.  "(Y/N), you're mumbling. I can't hear you."  Whatever she had said into the pillow, she repeated it after lifting her head from the pillow.  "Kanda ended up hooking up with that damn succubus."  

        My eyes widened and my hand stopped rubbing her back.  It broke my heart to see my normally strong and confident friend in this vulnerable state.  "Oh," I retreated my hand and set it down on my lap.  "I'm so sorry, (Y/N),"  I said softly, looking down at my hands.  I pulled her crying form close to my body and rocked her side to side, humming softly to her.  After an eternity of silence, (Y/N) finally spoke in a cracking voice.  "I've loved him ever since childhood, Lenalee. It hurt so much to see him in that position with her."  (Y/N) gave in and began to sob, holding onto me as if her life depended on it.  

        I frowned and rested my chin on top of her head, holding (Y/N) and whispering small comforts to her until she fell asleep in my arms.  I didn't sleep that night, as my blood was boiling too much to let me sleep.  The next morning, I told Allen the reason why (Y/N) was in my room, sleeping soundly.  I only told him because he could give me suggestions as to what I could do in situations like these.  "...so that's the full story. Please, what can I do for her? I feel responsible for what happened to (Y/N) since it was I who told her she should confess to Kanda."  I muttered guiltily, looking down at my shoes.  Allen put a hand to his chin and searched my face attentively as if trying to find the missing piece to my puzzle-like dilemma.  "Well, I did hear Kamui was assigning (Y/N) and Kanda to a mission that they have to go on together. You should keep (Y/N) company so nothing crazy happens and be there for her right now."  I beamed at the idea and kissed him on the cheek. 

        "Thanks, Allen! You always come up with good ideas."  I bid farewell and walked to my brother's office and attempted to convince him to let me go on this mission with (Y/N).  "Eh!? Lenalee, their mission is so incredibly dangerous. I cannot allow you to do such a thing!"  Kamui cautioned as he placed his hands on my shoulders.  I glared at my brother and smacked his hands off of my shoulder, straightening my posture to seem more dominant.  "Brother, you must let me go on this mission! (Y/N) has always been watching over me on my missions, so it's my turn to return the favor,"  I gave him the puppy eyes.  "Please, brother?"  Kamui sighed tiredly and bowed his head.  

        "I could never say no to you.  Fine, I'll assign you to the mission as well."  "Thank you, Kamui!  You have no idea how much of a huge favor you have done for me." I exclaimed, giving my big brother a bear hug.  And that's how I ended up here, sitting beside (Y/N) on the train and headed to our destination.
