~PRESENT TIME~
Your P.O.V
After boarding the train, I pulled Lenalee down quickly beside me to prevent Kanda from taking a seat next to me. I sighed as Cattia and Kanda took a seat in front of me, Cattia draped seductively on his arm. I gripped my scythe with both hands and looked out the window. It's been a full month since Valentine's Day, but my blood still boils whenever I see Kanda in my peripheral. I rubbed my eyes quickly to keep the rising tears from falling. In situations like this, where I was fighting with Kanda, I would've been talking to Alma about it. He would have known what to do or how to comfort me. I shivered and placed a hand over my eyes as my vision started to blur again.
Lenalee seemed to notice that I was struggling to keep my distress internal, as she reached for my hand and clutched it. I look at over at her and gave a small smile, squeezing her hand gratefully.
Hours later, the train stopped at our destination: An abandoned village, which was gated, and was surrounded by valleys. I walked ahead of the group down the valley to look over the land we had to cover. "I think we should split up. That way, we'll be able to find more Akumas." I decided while they were still behind me. I could hear Lenalee stammering and telling me to wait up for them, but I thought it was best to just go with my plan before Cattia, or even Kanda stopped me. I huffed and headed off towards the west end of the village.

I watched, disappointedly, as (Y/N) ran off in a direction away from us. Clearly, from me. I heaved a sigh and struggled to peel Cattia from me and decided to head towards the north end of the village. I approached the wooden gates of the abandoned village, keeping my hand on Mugen, and pushed the gates open. As I ventured into the village, I peered through many houses, many of them being decayed and looted in the past. I was beginning to think it was an all-clear mission until the obnoxiously large form of two Akumas appeared. I unsheathed Mugen and attacked them, easily annihilating their existence. I thought that was the end of them until at least five of them surrounded me.
I froze up as I took in the fact that the Akumas were slowly. This never happened before whenever I was on missions with (Y/N). She always had my back when I needed help and I would have hers. And now, because I hurt her, she won't be my saving grace this time around. "My lotus...I'm so sorry." I murmured, clutching Mugen in my hands. On perfect timing, Lenalee flew down beside me, pressing her back against mine. "I'm here! I have your back, Kanda." "Hmph." I nodded and sprinted up to an Akuma.
I took a hit but landed a slice on the body with the help of Lenalee. The five Akumas were gone within minutes, but we weren't able to catch a breath as a new batch of Akumas circled around us with twice the amount. "Need some help?" A feminine voice called from above. I looked up and saw Cattia, who was peculiarly on a floating broomstick. "What the...? Nevermind. Lend a hand, will you?" I shouted, while narrowly dodging a blast from an Akuma. She giggled cutely and held out her hand, blowing out a cloud of black dust towards the remaining Akuma. In the blink of an eye, they were gone. When the dust cleared, I let out a sigh of relief as the Akumas were gone.
I've never been this tired after a battle before and I noticed since I was leaning against Mugen for support. "Strange. Where's (Y/N?)" Cattia questioned as her broomstick lowered her down, placing a finger on her chin.

I ran into the woods, barely escaping the dozen Akuma behind me. I stopped in a clearing and scanned my surroundings quickly. I spotted a climbable tree and bolted towards it, hooking my scythe behind my back as I ran towards it. I climbed up the tree and sat upon a thick tree branch, trying desperately to control my uneven breathing. I leaned back against the tree and closed my eyes. It was quiet and peaceful for a moment, and I enjoyed it. Suddenly, I heard a whimper from within the bushes below I snapped open my eyes and hopped down, readying my scythe as I looked around. "Who's there?! Show yourself!" I yelled out.
A disheveled man, around my age, struggled out of the bushes. He was bloodied and bruised, but the thing that disturbed me the most was the fact that his face closely resembled Alma. He put a hand to his head and squinted at me. "Ugh...(Y/N)? Is that you?" This was the happiest moment of my life. I smiled wide, tears in my eyes. I dropped my scythe and took a few stumbling steps towards my long lost friend. My smile turned into a grin as I ran towards him, opening my arms and hugged him.
I fell to the ground with him as I gave him a soul-crushing hug. "I've missed you so much, Alma. You have no idea." I cried out with a cracking voice, burying my face in his chest. His arms wrapped around me and rubbed my back comfortingly. At one point, I could practically hear him smile. "Me too, my friend. Me too." It felt like a long time after I finished sobbing, Alma pulled back from the hug and started his life story after the Order "killed him." "With little life left, I managed to escape. This group of people took me in and I've lived with them ever since." I stared in awe as I gazed at his face.
'God, he's changed so much. He looks so different.' "You know, (Y/N), your life at the Black Order seems quite difficult. I'm only assuming from what you told me. Why don't you come with me and live with me with this group?" Alma offered. Without thinking, I quickly accepted. Alma hugged me tightly and rested his chin on my shoulder. "Good." He whispered into my ear. I inhaled sharply as an indescribable pain shot through my stomach. My eyes began to droop slowly, then I eventually blacked out.
