Chapter 5

        I nodded and stepped off the boat quickly, but my foot never met the edge of the dock.  My foot missed the dock completely and almost caused me to fall into the water, if not for Kanda grabbing me by the waist and holding me close to his chest.  I stood there for a moment while looking up into his shining blue eyes, basking at the moment.  When my mind finally processed what was happening, my face turned a deep red and I lept over to the dock.  I brushed my uniform off as I waited for him to cross over to the dock.  "W-We need to get going. We'll miss our train..."  As I started walking down the stone road towards the train station alongside Kanda, I couldn't help but scold myself in my head.  'God, why am I such a clutz? And why did my face feel so heated?'

        I reached up and brushed my cheek softly, still feeling some heat leftover from the events of earlier.  Finally, we made it to the crowded train station and waited for our train to come.  Kanda and I remained silent while we waited on the platform until he asked me where the mission was at and the objective of it.  "There's a mansion in a village in the countryside that seems to have a lot of Akuma activity. Komui has sent up to go and investigate."  A good 10 minutes past and our train finally came.  We got our tickets punched, our bags packed away, and settled into our cabin in one swift movement.  As I got comfortable in my seat, I took a quick glance at Kanda and smiled softly.  He looked very tired, so I remained quiet.

        I watched him lean on his katana and slowly fall asleep.  I let out an exasperated sigh and decided to do the same.  I shut my eyes peacefully and leaned against the window.

~Dream World~

        There was a ray of sun that caught my eyes, forcing me to squint as I opened my eyes.  When my eyes adjusted to the light, I looked around at my surroundings and blushed when I noticed one detail in particular.  I was laying my head on Kanda's lap.  Panicked, I tried sitting up, but he held me down.  The butterflies in my stomach were going crazy as I swatted his hand away.  "B-Baka. Let me sit up."  Of course, he didn't answer.  He just gave me his familiar cold stare, it was all gone in a second and it changes into something else.

        What I saw next caused the butterflies in my stomach to become even more frenzied; He was smiling down at me!  Smiling!  I must've blushed 50 shades of red because I could practically feel the steam rolling off of my face.  I quickly looked away from his gaze, only to be smacked in the face by some white flowers.  I observed our surroundings even more and gasped lightly, sitting up quickly and looking around.  We were in an almost endless flower field.  The flowers were a beautiful white and practically glowed in the sunlight.  I reached slowly to pick one, but once I plucked a single on, all of the flowers turned into a shade of black.

        I panicked and stood up.  "Yuu. We have to get out of here."  I turned to the blue-haired male, only to see his dead body.  I felt grief rise up in me as I dropped to my knees and shook him by his shoulders, begging for him to not leave me.  That's when I heard a young, girlish voice.  "You have the heart, don't you? Give it to me!"  I turned to the sound and almost had a heart attack.  A Noah stood a few inches from me, grinning with some sort of weapon floating behind her.  "I'll find you soon."  In the blink of an eye, she was gone and I fell into a dark hole, screaming as I fell into an endless void...

        I woke up at the sudden lurch of the train and tumbled out of my seat and onto the floor. Kanda snorted at my frame and moved towards the door of our cabin.  "Come on, baka."  I scoffed under my breath and stood up and followed Kanda towards a group of policemen who were waiting on the platform.  One of them noticed us and waved at us.  "Ah, if it isn't the exorcist! I see you've got our message."  A skinny man that looked like he was in his late 20s. "Yes. So, could you tell us more about this mansion and the activity in it?"  I asked.
