Chapter 18| SURPRISE!
“People die, Memories don't”
After Noah's death our life became empty, I thought that time will heal everything but it did not, years were passing and we just continued our life
Dila & Kevin's wedding anniversary is in the next week and I wanted to make a little surprise for them, I told mom and dad about this idea and they did not mind, I just wanted them all to be happy, not to forget Noah but to be happy
"Dad, can I talk with you?" I asked happily
"Sure, but what is the reason of your smile?" He laughed
"Nothing! Should I have a reason to be smiling?" I said
"No you shouldn't, tell me what do you want?" He said
"Dila & Kevin's wedding anniversary is in the next week, and I want to make a surprise for them"
"That's a great idea!"
"Um, you will help me in preparing this surprise right?"
"Of course, tell me what I have to do"
"Okay! Thank you so much dad!"
"Camila, before you leave I want to tell you something"
"What?"
"I am proud of you, and I become happy when you think of new ideas for making your family happy"
I smiled and left, then I went to mom, mom was pretending that she is happy and living her life normally, but I knew that she was the saddest one of us
"Hey mom what are you doing" I hugged her
"Nothing" She hid something behind her and smiled
"What did you hide? Mom you were looking at the same photos" I took them
"I can't see him now, why don't I look at them? Why don't I remember these memories again?" She cried
"Because photos won't bring him again, memories won't let us see him, we don't need to see him, we just want to feel that he is still with us" I said
"You are right, so did you want to tell me something?"
"How did you know?"
"You are still asking the same question since you were a child, I know everything about my daughter"
"I want to tell you that Dila's wedding anniversary is in the next week, I told dad about that and I told him that I want to make a surprise for them"
"Oh my God I forgot! What was his opinion?"
"He agreed, what about you?"
"Of course I don't mind, tell me if you need any help"
"Well! I am going to prepare everything about this small party, goodbye"
I started preparing for this surprise, first I called Dila to see if she is free to come on Sunday
"Dila, when will you visit us?" I asked
"Mm, I don't know, what about you? When will you visit us?" She said
"I don't know too, can you come on Sunday?" I asked
"Sunday? Oh no I want you all to come on Sunday!" She replied
"Mm, I have an idea!"
"What?"
"You and Kevin can come on Sunday and then we all go to your house"
"Nice idea, okay I will tell Kevin about this"
"Great! Bye now"
"So today is Friday and I should finish everything before Saturday night" I said to myself
I bought the decorations, dad helped me in putting them, mom made a cake and decorated it. I remembered when we made a surprise for mom & dad, yeah memories never die!
Then I told dad about what Dila said
"I don't think it will be a nice surprise, we mustn't be with them" He said
"But she told me that she wants us to visit her" I said
"Why?" He asked
"I don't know!" I said
"I have an idea! We go to their house while the come to ours" He said
"Dad I really love you!!" I hugged him
I called Dila again to tell her dad's idea
"Dila, you and Kevin will come to our house and we will go to your house" I said
"At the same time?" She asked
"Yes" I said
"Why?" She asked
"You don't have to know now, you will know everything when you & Kevin come" I said
"Okay, you will also know everything when y'all come" She said
"Know what?" I asked
"You don't have to know now! Goodbye" She closed the line
Saturday night came and everything was prepared, I was tired of preparing this surprise but I wanted to make all the family happy and that was an incentive for me to continue doing it
The next day we went to Dila's house and they came to our house, on our way to Dila's house;
"Oh my God! I forgot something important!!" I said
"What??" Mom asked
"We don't have the keys!!" I answered
"One second what do you mean with 'the keys'? Wait Dila's house!" Dad said
"Unfortunately yes!" I said
"I will call her" Mom said
Mom called Dila
"Dila where are you?"
"On our way to your house"
"We don't have your keys!"
"Enter Noah's birth date in the pass code"
"But you told us that it doesn't work!"
"We fixed it the last month don't worry"
"Okay"
Mom closed the line
"We will enter Noah's birth date in the pass code" Mom said
"Thanks God!" I said
"Dila has a copy of our keys right?" Dad asked
"Yeah" Mom said
When we arrived, we saw a paper written on it 'open the boxes', there were three boxes and each name was written on it, when I opened my box I read a letter written in it 'hi auntie', I did not understand then I shouted "OH MY GOD!"
"What's going on?" Dad asked
"Dad, Mom did you open your boxes?" I asked
"Yes, but I did not understand" Mom said
"Dila is PREGNANT!" I shouted
"How did– oh my God you are right!!! It says to my grandfather!" Dad shouted
"Me too! It says to my grandmother! Oh my God!!!" Mom shouted too
Then my phone rang, I opened the speaker
"You made this surprise!!!!! We totally forgot that today is our wedding anniversary!!!!!" Dila said
"Dila are you really pregnant????" Mom asked
"Yes she is pregnant!" Kevin said
"Oh my God I will be a grandfather!! I can't believe it!!" Dad said happily
"We surprised each other!!!" Dila said
"Yeah, it seems weird!!!" I laughed
