Nora's POV- August 2019
Today had been an incredibly long day, and Chris had somehow found a way to make it memorable. He had proposed, and I got to admit that I did not see it coming. When I got home, I found a carpet of red roses leading me to the kitchen. I set my purse on the couch before making my way to the kitchen to find Chris almost done with making dinner. He made spaghetti and meatballs, a food I had been craving. I let him know about the inconvenience that occurred at work, and he handled it better than I had assumed he would. After a couple of months of finding a blue velvet box in our drawer, it was finally on my finger.
"You have the day off tomorrow, right?"
I nodded as Chris began peppering my jaw with kisses.
"Let's do something, it's been a while since we've gone out"
That true, but I had a better suggestion.
"Let's get married tomorrow," I told him.
He stopped kissing my face and leaned back to look at my face.
"You don't want a big fancy wedding?"
Not really, but I knew our family did.
"We can do that later" I noted.
He chuckled.
"I even have a dress," I said.
His eyebrows furrowed.
"I was technically supposed to wear it to last years diamond gala but white was not a color I felt comfortable wearing while on my period" I stated.
He slowly nodded.
"I technically don't have my period to worry about" I mentioned.
He chuckled before asking,
"Are you sure?"
"About wanting to marry you tomorrow?" I asked.
"Yeah"
"Of course" I answered.
I reached over and gently scratched his cheek.
"You're it for me" I admitted.
A big smile just formed on his face.
"Do you not want to marry me?" I wondered.
He laughed.
"Of course I want to marry you"
"Then let's just do it, and have a big celebration later," I said.
"Where would that be?"
"Most likely Virginia Beach" I replied.
"Really?"
"Yeah, you have a much bigger family and some of them can't travel too far" I answered.
He smiled.
"Are we actually going to let your parents pay for the reception?"
"You try saying no to my dad," I told him.
He hummed.
"So they're paying for our reception"
I laughed.
"Are you sure?"
"Do you not want to marry me?" I joked.
His eyes softened.
"Of course I do, but I don't want you to feel rushed"
We looked away as there was a light knock on the door.
