Chapter 29 ♔

After a few seconds, I spoke up again, "Wait Daniel..why would you need your friend's money to pay your tuition? Aren't you already from a rich family? Couldn't you ask your parents to pay it for you?"

He sighed, "No. I had a huge fight going on with my parents back then. Teenage issues and all. They refused to offer me any help and wanted me to be independent. I also didn't live with them..I lived in a dorm so I didn't have much contact with them during college. It was also hard for me to land a job with no experience...so I had no other choice but to accept my friend's money.."

I sighed in defeat, "I see..."

We stayed silent for a few moments in each other's embrace. He rubbed my back with gentle strokes while I stared into space, lost in thought.

...What am I supposed to do now?

Forgive him?

Once again?

He's made so many mistakes over these past few months.

It's the same every time. He does something unthinkable, tears my heart apart, apologizes and begs for forgiveness, then makes another mistake. And the cycle repeats itself.

If I were to be honest, being with Daniel...has sort of become a chore.

I sighed and got out of his embrace, "Daniel...thank you for your explanation...but honestly I'm getting tired of this."

"W-What do you mean jagiya? Y-You're not getting tired of me are you?" he asked nervously.

I looked down, "Kinda. Everytime you make a mistake, I always forgive you and try my best to move on...only for you to disappoint me again. Even if I forgive you now..I bet you're gonna disappoint me again with another stupid mistake."

He stared at me in pity, "I'm sorry jagi...Y/N. I'm sorry about my behaviour. I can understand why you feel that way. I'm just a shitty person...aren't I?" he said with a painful voice.

I wanted to deny that and comfort him. I wanted to tell him he's a great person...but I couldn't.

I stayed silent.

We stood there silently for a few moments before he spoke up again, "I know you're probably tired of hearing this...but please. C-Can you forgive me one more time? I know I've made tons of mistakes till now...and have been acting like a total douche...but I truly realize my mistakes now. I hate seeing you in pain because of me, jagi. I genuinely want to change and become a better person for you. So please, give me one more chance yeah?"

I looked into his pleading eyes. Just as the other times, he looked genuinely guilty.

But I knew not to fall for that anymore. Because he never stayed true to his words.

Which means he's either lying, or is just a very good actor. I just know he will betray me again.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes before speaking, "I'm sorry Daniel...but I don't think I can forgive you this tim-"

Suddenly, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me into another embrace, "Please don't say that jagi. I can't bear to hear it. I'm begging you...please forgive me." he demanded.

I wanted to reply, but I could barely breathe. His hug was too suffocating.

"You'll forgive me, right? Tell me you will. You always do!"

I tried my best to pull out of his tight hold, but it was no use.

He didn't even care about my feelings anymore. At this point, he was desperate for forgiveness.
