BYE6: Filling the Empty Void

In a circle of friends, it is inevitable for us to experience getting caught up in a fight between two of our peer members. However, the best way to deal with it is to stay back and let them resolve their problems on their own because in a war, when you try to be a bridge laid down between them, they will tear you in half.

Kasalukuyan akong nakatayo sa lamesa na kinauupuan ni Tobin at Art. Hindi makaupo dahil sa kasama kong si Vicki na nananahimik lamang at hindi kumikibo. Wala 'man nagsasalita ay ramdam ko pa rin ang tensyon sa dalawa kong kaibigan.

Maski si Tobin na madalas ay patakas-takas, hindi magawang tumayo ngayon.

Geez, this is so awkward! I knew that they were not in speaking terms pero hindi ko naman inaasahan na ganito kalala!

What the hell happened?

I cleared my throat and tried to start a conversation. Bumaling ako kay Art.

"Art,Why is your hair color green? Ano meron sa green?"

Tumawa siya. His chuckle was only half hearted. Mukhang nanlalata. Are they stressed? Or did sonething happen while they were away?

"Feeling damo kasi. Tamang photosynthesis lang sa labas ganon..." Bumungisngis sakin si Vicki.

I pursed my lips as I watched Art turn his gaze at Vi. Agad na tumikhim ang kaibigan ko at natahimik, hindi masalubong ang tingin ng kagalit na kaibigan.

Tobin hissed and mouthed something at me. 'paghiwalayin muna natin. '

I mouthed my reply back 'ok, palamig muna.'

I cleared my throat, gasgas na lalamunan ko dahil sa dalawa kong kaibigan. The things I do for them, right?

"Ah, Tobin, Art. Una na kami ni Vicki. Eat Well kayo!" pagkatapos niyon ay agad ko nang hinatak palayo si Vicki.

Agad itong naghimutok ng makarating sa labas, "Saan tayo pupunta? Bev! Nagugutom ako 'eh!"

"Are you serious? Magrereklamo ka pa eh halos malusaw ka na sa kinakatayuan mo kanina dahil sa tension" Irap ko dito.

"You can't even look at Art straight in the face and you want to eat with him? Wow you' re so tibay, friend! Pastrong!" Dagdag ko pa.

Inirapan ako nito pabalik.

"Bakit ba kasi? did something happen at the camp?"

Nagiwas lang si Vi ng tingin. I sighed heavily.

Clearly, something really happened. Malabong walang nangyari dahil sa kinikilos ng dalawa. As much as I want to know what is it, I also want them to have their privacy. Hindi naman kasi lahat ng bagay dapat sinasabi and I understand that. There are things that we should just keep to ourselves and others that could be told. Pero dahil wala naman akong kinalaman, it is not my business to invade and to push them into telling their issues just to quench my curiosity.

"You know I won't push it if you don't want to tell me, right?"

Tumango siya ng tahimik. Nagsalita ulit ako. "And you know that I'm always here to listen and if you want some advice I'll help you in the best way I could, right?"

"Yes, Oo. Alam ko naman yun, Bev...." Yumuko ito.

"Okay, Then that's enough for me. Tara libre na lang kita sa Rita's IC" She smiled but I know deep inside there's still something bothering her.

I gave her a comforting hug. "It's ok, Vi. No matter what's hapenning right now, everything will be good soon, just hang in there, aight?" Suminghot ito kaya natawa ako at bumitaw sa yakap.
